A Snapshot of Your Day
As a CNC Vertical Boring Mill Machinist, you will work within Siemens Energy's Compressor Components manufacturing team, supporting the production of critical gas turbine components. Your day will involve setting up and operating CNC vertical boring machines, interpreting blueprints and manufacturing specifications, and performing precision machining operations to exact tolerances. You will inspect work throughout the machining process, make tooling and machine adjustments as needed, and collaborate with team members to meet production schedules while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Success in this role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing production priorities.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Set up and operate CNC Vertical Boring Mills, including installing tooling, establishing machine parameters, and performing precision machining operations to specification.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints, work instructions, tooling sheets, and machining programs to produce quality components.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and make tooling offsets or machine adjustments to maintain required tolerances.
- Load, unload, secure, and position workpieces using cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment while following established safety procedures.
- Complete required production documentation, downtime records, quality checks, and operational data reporting throughout the manufacturing process.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, troubleshoot minor machine issues, and support continuous workflow by adapting to changing production demands.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required; preferred completion of a 3-year applied trades training program, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training in machining or manufacturing.
- 3+ years of experience operating CNC machining equipment, preferably CNC Vertical Boring Mills or similar large machining centers.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, charts, and technical drawings while applying shop mathematics and precision measurement techniques.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Siemens Energy equipment certifications, including forklift and crane operation, as required.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions in English; Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate (Silver Status) preferred.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
