Position Summary
The Facilities Engineer will support the end-to-end facilities infrastructure for on-site computer rooms across manufacturing locations. The role focuses on electrical infrastructure, IT power planning, UPS/battery systems, rack layouts, computer room design, and critical-facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own IT electrical load planning, including kW/rack, amperage, phases, A/B feeds, redundancy paths, peak loads, and growth requirements.
- Design and manage UPS and battery backup strategies, including sizing, runtime targets, monitoring, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement planning.
- Create and maintain rack elevations and as-built room layouts, validating power, thermal, weight, cable paths, maintenance access, and future growth.
- Support overall computer room design, including power distribution, environmental requirements, physical/security controls, and facilities readiness.
- Partner with IT modernization and facilities teams to identify and remediate constraints such as UPS capacity, rack space, and redundant connections, while minimizing production impact.
- Serve as the facilities escalation point for computer room power events, supporting root cause analysis and remediation of electrical failures.
- Establish and maintain SOPs/MOPs for power work, UPS maintenance, rack changes, and room upgrades.
- Provide QA/QC oversight for contractors working on computer rooms and critical electrical paths.
- Manage UPS, battery, and monitoring-system vendors, including quotes, SOWs, delivery timelines, and capacity expansion projects.
- Collaborate with plant maintenance on generator/transfer readiness and testing.
- Provide overall management of the Struxureware DCIM Platform.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in critical facilities, electrical infrastructure, data centers, or computer room environments, preferably in industrial/manufacturing facilities.
- Hands-on experience with UPS systems, battery technologies, electrical distribution, troubleshooting, and operational safety.
- Experience with rack elevations/layouts and validating power, thermal, and weight constraints.
- Experience with generators, ATS/STS units, and mission-critical electrical systems.
- Familiarity with data center tiering concepts and reliability-oriented design.
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel.
