The Role |
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Accounting Manager to build our accounting function from scratch. You will be the architect of our financial operations, establishing processes, controls, and systems to support our launch and scalable growth. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a dynamic "start-up" environment and is excited by the challenge of building something significant.
Key Responsibilities
- Zero-to-One Buildout: Design, implement, and manage all aspects of the accounting function for the Canadian entity, including GL, AP, AR, Payroll, inventory and Fixed Assets.
- System & Process Implementation: Lead the selection and implementation of an ERP/accounting system(SAP & OTD).
- Policy & Control Development: Establish and document accounting policies, procedures, and robust internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets.
- Accounting: carries out accounting work in the initial stage
- Financial Reporting: Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with Canadian ASPE.
- Operational Partnership: Collaborate with sales, supply chain, and HQ finance teams to ensure accurate financial recording and provide insights for business decisions.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing accounting team as the company grows.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation is required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. Experience with Automotive is a plus.
- Proven experience in building accounting functions from the ground up (Zero-to-One) is a MUST.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE). Experience with IFRS is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with ERP system implementation and optimization.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various stakeholders across different cultures.
