Role SummaryIn this role, you will troubleshoot and resolve issues on automated production equipment, encompassing electrical, software, MES, and pneumatic systems. You will diagnose and repair electrical components, develop and debug PLC code, create and interpret electrical schematics, and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces. Additionally, you will optimize automated processes, contribute to equipment improvements, deploy standardized code, and utilize issue tracking tools, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime in a production or lab environment. This position is located at our Plymouth, MI facility and reports directly to one of our Manufacturing Engineering Managers.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, implement solutions, and document issues occurring during production on automation equipment related to electrical, software, MES, and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose, replace, and wire problematic sensors, actuators, or electrical panel components as needed in a production or lab environment.
- Write and debug PLCs using Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.
- Draft and analyze electrical schematics for automation equipment using 480/240/120VAC and 24VDC circuits.
- Maintain and sustain user HMI and SCADA screens that are user-friendly, intuitive and suitable for operating and troubleshooting equipment.
- Debug and optimize automated processes to minimize cycle time, maximize availability and improve yield.
- Assist in modification, improvement, and integration of automated equipment.
- Deploy standardized Rivian code to automated machines in a production setting while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure minimal downtime.
- Use issue tracking and revision control tools to organize production workflows.
Qualifications- Associates degree or bachelors in engineering technology (preferred)
- Experience reading basic AC and DC electrical schematics, EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
- Experience replacing and wiring controls components in a production or lab environment.
- Prior experience working with PLCs using any of the IEC 61131-3 languages is a plus.
- Experience creating or modifying user-interfaces in a common manufacturing user interface platform such as FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition, etc. is a plus.
- Experience with motion control applications using servos, stepper motors, and/or VFDs.
- Experience working with 6-axis industrial robots such as Fanuc, Kuka, ABB, Kawasaki, etc. is a plus.
- Knowledge of implementing and troubleshooting industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP is a plus.
- Knowledge of database systems is a plus.
Pay DisclosureSalary Range/Hourly Rate for IL & MI Based Applicants: $30.00 - $38.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
