Role SummaryWe are seeking a highly analytical and process-driven Senior Cost Accountant to support the accurate valuation of inventory and cost reporting across all Rivian sites. This role will be instrumental in optimizing standard costing, variance analysis, and cross-functional product cost alignment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cost accounting for high-volume manufacturing and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, procurement, and production teams on financial impacts.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain and improve standard costing methodologies across Rivian’s production footprint.
Serve as a subject matter expert on product costing for internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve non-standard cost accounting scenarios.
Perform monthly close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance reporting.
Identify and implement best practices for cost accounting and automation opportunities.
Provide variance analysis and costing guidance to plant operations and supply chain partners.
Support internal audits and special projects as needed.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (with concentration in Accounting).
5+ years of experience in accounting, including 2+ years in product costing for manufacturing.
Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard cost, and variance analysis.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).
SAP experience required, with proficiency across FICO, MM, PP, and ideally EWM modules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in high-volume OEM manufacturing environments.
Passion for building scalable processes in a high-growth environment.
Track record of driving cross-functional cost initiatives or ERP enhancements.
Pay DisclosureSalary Range for Illinois based applicants:$103,100 - $128,900 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).
