Role SummaryThe Cost Engineering Process and Standards Manager is a key role responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining robust cost engineering processes, standards, and metrics across the organization. This position will drive consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in cost estimating, analysis, and reporting, supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost engineering principles, process development, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities- Process Development and Standardization:
- Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive cost engineering procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Establish standard cost breakdown structures (CBS) and ensure their consistent application across projects.
- Define and implement standardized methodologies for cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Create templates, guidelines, and tools to support cost engineering activities.
- Metrics and Performance Management:
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure cost engineering performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on cost engineering metrics.
- Monitor adherence to cost engineering standards and processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of cost engineering practices to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing:
- Develop and deliver training programs for cost engineering staff on processes, standards, and tools.
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within the cost engineering team.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and advancements in cost engineering.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve cost engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in cost engineering activities.
- Facilitate lessons learned sessions and incorporate feedback into process improvements.
- System and Tool Support:
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and administration of cost engineering software and tools.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within cost engineering systems.
- Provide support and guidance to cost engineering staff on the use of systems and tools.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure effective integration of cost engineering into project management processes.
- Communicate cost engineering standards and processes to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cost engineering matters.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or related field
- 5-7+ years of experience in Cost Engineering, with a focus on process development and standardization.
- Strong understanding of cost engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proven ability to develop, document, and implement cost engineering processes and standards.
- Experience in defining and tracking cost engineering metrics and KPIs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence stakeholders.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cost engineering software and tools (e.g., CATIA, aPriori, Costdata, etc.)
- Experience in the Automotive industry
Pay DisclosureSalary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $137,800 - $172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Michigan Based Applicants: $125,800 - $157,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
