The Opportunity
InCharge Energy is seeking a
QA Test Engineer to support firmware and hardware quality assurance processes for our electric vehicle charging solutions. This role will be instrumental in executing and documenting QA testing workflows, troubleshooting issues with EV chargers, and translating technical information from subject matter experts into clear, structured documentation to support our growing service team. Reporting to the Manager of Hardware Engineering, this role is ideal for a highly motivated senior QA analyst who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating across hardware, software, and operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Document and prioritize testing needs in collaboration with stakeholders across engineering and service
- Execute test plans and test cases to ensure products meet quality and performance standards
- Identify and report defects or issues, and work with development to resolve them
- Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting on EV chargers, including firmware validation and hardware-software integration checks
- Support ad hoc field issues by investigating hardware anomalies and documenting root causes
- Participate in documentation reviews and gather technical insights to support pre-commissioning, NOC, and service teams
- Create and maintain user guides, technical documentation, and knowledge base materials
- Help manage the lifecycle of QA documentation and ensure access through a centralized repository
- Interpret, build upon, and ensure compliance with company quality assurance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure knowledge assets are leveraged effectively
- Conduct functional, regression, performance/load, and user acceptance (UAT) testing
Your Experience and Capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in QA testing, technical documentation, or related roles in a hardware/software product environment
- Familiarity with firmware fundamentals and hardware-software integration
- Understanding of QA best practices including defect management, version control, and testing methodologies
- Strong technical writing skills and experience creating documentation for internal or customer-facing use
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across engineering, operations, and service functions
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working around high-voltage systems and following safety protocols
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, multitasking environment
- Ability to travel up to 5% for work-related activities, including site visits or field investigations
Physical and Environmental Demands
- This role requires the ability to work in both an office and a production/warehouse environment.
- Physical activities include, but are not limited to: lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, working from ladders, walking, working in extreme temperatures (cold/heat), confined quarters, excessive noise, and high voltage environments
- Must also be comfortable flying domestically for work-related travel
US Salary Range
$55,000—$62,000 USD
