About Slate: Slate is a new company exploring innovation in the electric vehicle space. As we scale rapidly, we're building a digitally enabled finance function to support fast, data-driven decision-making, strong internal controls, and operational agility
Who we are looking for: We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Manager, Finance Operations & Systems Enablement to help build the foundation of Slate's finance systems and processes. This role is business-led and cross-functional, responsible for defining and owning the business requirements that power key Finance & Accounting capabilitiesfrom procure-to-pay to record-to-report to financial planning.
Rather than modernizing legacy systems, this is a rare opportunity to design and deliver new processes and tools from the ground up, in partnership with Finance, Accounting, IT, and Purchasing. The ideal candidate thrives in white-space environments and can balance long-term vision with short-term execution.
A critical focus of this role will be to lead the delivery of key systems and control capabilities identified during a recent third-party finance and controls assessment, ensuring we are well-positioned for operational scale and strategic flexibility.
What you get to do:
- Lead the definition, documentation, and prioritization of business requirements for core Finance & Accounting systems—including ERP (NetSuite), EPM, product cost management, and financial close tools.
- Build and enhance foundational business processes across procure-to-pay, record-to-report, inventory/costing, and financial planning to support scale and compliance.
- Act as the business lead on cross-functional systems initiatives, working closely with the Enterprise Architect in IT to define and maintain a forward-looking Finance & Accounting technology vision.
- Own delivery of critical process and systems improvements identified in a recent independent assessment of Finance & Accounting capabilities and controls.
- Serve as a strategic partner and liaison between Finance/Accounting and IT—ensuring business requirements are well understood, solutions are fit-for-purpose, and implementations are successful.
- Document and standardize policies, workflows, and procedures to support audit readiness, data integrity, and efficient operations.
- Coordinate testing, training, and change management efforts related to new finance systems or enhancements.
- Monitor and improve finance system governance, including user access, roles, and internal controls in collaboration with IT and Compliance teams.
What you bring to the team: We're looking for someone with:
- 10+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Finance Operations, with at least 5 years in finance systems enablement, process design, or project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
- Strong understanding of core finance and accounting processes and how they translate into systems capabilities.
- Experience building or significantly enhancing finance systems and processes, especially ERP (NetSuite preferred), EPM, procurement, or close/consolidation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive outcomes in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Process-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through ambiguity to build structure.
- High integrity and accountability in managing financial data and internal control requirements.
