About the Company
A pioneer in EV infrastructure, the company specializes in designing, engineering, and installing Level 2 and Level 3 fast-charging stations. With a strong focus on turnkey solutions, they partner with EVSPs, utilities, fleet owners, and OEMs to deliver innovative charging infrastructure integrated with solar, energy storage, and smart software.
The Opportunity
This is a full-time, hybrid remote position located near Santa Ana, CA. Successful candidates must be able to commute to the office. The role involves analyzing project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, collaborating with project teams, evaluating subcontractor bids, and ensuring cost-efficient solutions. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. The Estimator will develop and complete estimates based on written or oral descriptions from project managers and must be capable of estimating from photos. The position requires an 8-hour workday, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED (required) and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Estimating Experience: 7-10 years of estimating experience (preferred).
- Professional Certifications: CPE, CEP, PMP (a plus).
- Project Management: Proven project management skills, including planning, estimating, scheduling, and cost engineering.
- Construction Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction processes, particularly in electric vehicle infrastructure.
- Electrical Construction: Comprehensive understanding of electrical construction, from utility transmission to building distribution.
- Electrical and Battery Systems: Strong understanding of electrical systems, charging station technologies, power delivery systems, transformers, and battery systems.
- Negotiation Experience: Extensive experience in bidding processes and subcontractor negotiations.
- Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage relationships with material vendors, including creating and evaluating RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs.
- Estimate Skills: Skilled in generating accurate estimates based on various inputs, such as photographs, videos, and oral descriptions.
- Pricing: Expertise in preparing RFQs and evaluating vendor pricing.
- Permitting Knowledge: Solid understanding of engineering scopes, including electrical, structural, civil, and permitting requirements.
- Design Experience: Significant experience in design-build and EPC project delivery models.
- Software Savvy: Proficiency in McCormick/Accubid software.
- Training Skills: Proven ability to train and develop estimators and site assessors.
- Hard Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, lift up to 25 pounds, work at heights, and operate tools and equipment safely while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
