JOIN A GLOBAL LEADER IN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
At EN Plus, we are more than just a manufacturer; we are the architectural engine behind the global shift to sustainable mobility. With a decade of stable operations and an unwavering commitment to innovation, we empower companies around the world with reliable, scalable and compliant EV charging solutions through our leading technical expertise.
Empowering good energy, everywhere.
Our impact at scale:
- 1.8 million+ EV chargers delivered globally
- 200 million+ successful charging sessions supported via our partner platforms
- 60+ countries supplied with region-ready charging solutions
- 450+ global employees, including a 180+ person dedicated R&D team
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Product Systems Architect to become the European technical authority for our vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging products, and beyond. You will report to the Head of Product and Project Delivery and work closely with our UK and EU product team, and with the systems, certification and R&D teams at our headquarters in Shenzhen.
You will set the UK and EU requirements, shape the system architecture from concept onwards, and prove the product works with the vehicles, platforms and grids it will meet in the field. The role combines three disciplines: systems architecture, standards and regulatory expertise, and technical product management.
You will focus on platform products that underpin many customer projects. You will understand what different customers need and make sure the platform supports both their common needs and the unique needs of key customers.
A significant part of this role is looking ahead. You will track standards and regulation from draft to enforcement, represent EN Plus in the industry groups where those standards are written, and make sure today's architecture can still meet tomorrow's requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Role: Product Systems Architect (UK & EU)
- Location: Fully remote, UK or EU-based
- Work arrangement: Frequent travel across the UK and EU to partner sites, test labs and industry events, plus travel to our R&D headquarters in Shenzhen
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Systems Architecture and Integration
- Author the UK and EU architecture drivers at concept stage, ranking the regional requirements with the biggest architectural consequences and recommending how to meet them.
- Shape the system architecture with our Systems Engineer: propose options, co-author trade studies comparing design choices against cost, performance, compliance, future regulation, interoperability, manufacturability, and installer and user experience, and recommend the best fit for the UK and EU.
- Design for the future by pushing for hardware headroom, modularity and upgrade paths where coming regulation requires them.
- Define the system context and external interfaces: vehicles, OCPP backends, energy platforms, grid connection, metering and installation.
- Manage partner integration and interoperability testing with EV OEMs (IEC 61851, ISO 15118-20), OCPP and energy platforms, and against grid codes.
2. Standards and Regulatory Expertise
- Own the UK and EU regulatory requirements register, covering regulations and standards in force, adopted and in draft.
- Represent EN Plus actively in industry associations including CharIN, the Open Charge Alliance, IEA Task 53 and BEAMA: join working groups, contribute positions and test results, and attend plugfests and Testivals.
- Translate standards and legal text into plain engineering language for our Shenzhen teams, and set the UK and EU certification scope with our certification engineer.
- Work with the UK and EU product team and our HQ team to publish a periodic regulatory horizon report.
3. Technical Product Management
- Co-own the product requirements with the UK and EU product team, owning the technical requirements, feasibility and trade-offs.
- Own the platform's technical requirements for partner integrations, including OCPP, smart charging, energy platform APIs and V2G interfaces.
- Act as the single technical point of contact between the UK and EU market and our R&D teams.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience: 7 to 10+ years in EV charging, inverters or comparable power electronics and energy products, including bidirectional charging, ideally AC V2G.
- Background: A degree in electrical, electronic or embedded engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Architecture: Proven architecture-level contribution to chargers or similar products, with the credibility to argue trade-offs in cost, performance, manufacturability and compliance.
- Standards: Working knowledge of IEC 61851, IEC 62196, ISO 15118 (including -20), OCPP, MID metering, EMC and grid codes such as G99 and RfG.
- Testing: Hands-on protocol testing experience, including reading ISO 15118 and OCPP traces and using EV emulators, protocol analysers and OCPP test tools.
- Communication: Experience working with engineering teams in China, with clear, precise written communication.
- Industry presence: The commitment and capacity to represent EN Plus in industry associations and standards working groups.
BONUS POINTS
- You already have standing in CharIN, the Open Charge Alliance, IEA Task 53, BEAMA, or IEC, CENELEC or BSI committees.
- You have grid code type testing or pre-compliance experience for bidirectional products.
- You have integrated chargers with energy supplier or charge point operator platforms.
- You speak or read Mandarin.
- You have led or mentored a team.
WHY JOIN EN PLUS?
- Real authority: Shape how a global manufacturer's products are designed for Europe, from concept to field.
- At the frontier: Work on vehicle-to-grid and the wider AC and DC range, with major energy partners, on some of the hardest and most impactful problems in EV charging.
- Industry voice: Represent EN Plus where the standards are written, and see and contribute to changes before they are published.
- Competitive package: Competitive salary plus 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Flexible working: Fully remote, UK or EU-based.
HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV with a few sentences about the hardest architecture trade-off or interoperability problem you've solved: what the options were, what you recommended, and why. We are more interested in how you think than in a list of standards.
