Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician is a fully qualified, multi-craft technician responsible for keeping production equipment safe, reliable, and running to standard. You'll execute preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, restore equipment quickly during unplanned downtime, and partner with Operations to maintain a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) culture. This is the role where you step onto the floor as
the person the line calls first. You know the equipment, you know the fundamentals, and you're the reason the factory keeps moving. At Panasonic Energy, we're building the world's largest lithium-ion battery factory, and our Maintenance Technicians are the reliability engine that makes it possible.
Essential Duties
Functional Operations:
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment per MPIs, SOPs, and OEM specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Check machine settings, gauge readings, HMI, and sensor data to maintain operating specifications.
- Detect equipment abnormalities through visual and audible observations and complete corrective actions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and precision measuring devices to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Take initial multimeter readings and interpret basic PLC ladder logic to isolate equipment issues.
Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and After Action Reviews (AARs).
- Suggest and implement equipment modifications that improve reliability, safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Develop, follow, and improve Standard Work processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Training & Team Support
- Assist with workflow alignment by following established processes, supporting team operations, and communicating effectively with shift leaders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with Production teams to promote TPM and machine ownership.
- Support first-line care coaching and operator development.
- Communicate and escalate equipment failures, faulty operations, and defective materials promptly.
- Assist Operations in minimizing downtime and improving equipment performance.
Safety, Quality, & Compliance
- Follow LOTO, PPE, and Critical Safety Rules without shortcuts and speak up when something isn't right.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment using 6S.
- Bring energy, respect, and accountability; demonstrate High-Performance Culture behaviors.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with quality and safety standards.

Required
Education, Certifications, and Licenses:
- High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or 3 years of maintenance experience.
- Successful Ramsay mechanical assessment.
- LOTO certification and other process certifications, as assigned.
Preferred
- Associate's degree
- Completion of the PECNA Maintenance Apprenticeship Program
- Trade school / vocational graduate
- PLC training or certification
- PECNA-approved technical training
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of maintenance experience, completion of the PECNA Maintenance Apprenticeship Program, or completion of the Skilled Machine Technician Apprentice program and a minimum of 6 months as a Skilled Machine Technician.
- Working proficiency across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and act on MPIs, SOPs, and basic assembly/electrical prints.
- Working-level English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking, and basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to meet the physical demands and PPE requirements of the role, including a respirator fit test based on functional area and annual recertification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior exposure to regulated manufacturing environments.
- PLC troubleshooting exposure, such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
- Comfort using CMMS for work orders and PM tracking.
- Alignment with Panasonic's seven core principles.
- NFPA 70E or OSHA 30 certification.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is required and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.
