Job Summary
The SCM & Logistic Process Planner designs lean material flow and warehouse concepts for production (intralogistics) and inbound logistics and transfers them into operational implementation. The role establishes and maintains the Plan For Every Part (PFEP) as the central data basis for all part-related logistics decisions and aligns the relevant supply chain processes, with the aim of ensuring material availability at optimal inventory levels, space utilization and costs.
What You'll Do
Supply Chain Processes
- Design, standardize and document SCM processes from material planning and supplier call-offs through inbound logistics and warehousing to line supply, including the definition of replenishment strategies and planning parameters (e.g. Kanban, reorder point, safety stock, lot sizes)
- Define supplier logistics requirements (delivery frequencies, packaging, labelling) together with Purchasing and design inbound concepts, including tenders and negotiations with logistics service providers
- Set up and monitor logistics KPIs (e.g. delivery reliability, inventory level and coverage, stock accuracy, space utilization)
Plan For Every Part (PFEP)
- Set up, own and maintain the Plan For Every Part (PFEP) as the single source of truth for all logistics-relevant part data (e.g. supplier and origin, consumption per unit and per day, packaging type and pack quantity, container dimensions and weight, storage location, point of use, replenishment method, delivery frequency, safety stock)
- Derive logistics concepts from the PFEP: packaging concepts, storage and supermarket sizing, line-side presentation, replenishment loops, tugger train routes and cycle times, Kanban quantities
- Define PFEP data governance: responsibilities, data sources (ERP, engineering BOM, Purchasing), update triggers (new parts, engineering changes, volume or supplier changes) and data quality checks
- Integrate the PFEP into product development and industrialization projects: early collection of logistics data for new parts and definition of packaging and supply method before SOP
- Use the PFEP as the basis for storage capacity, space and resource planning (personnel, equipment, load carriers)
Warehouse Planning
- Planning and layout design of warehouse and storage areas (goods receipt, storage, supermarkets, picking, shipping) for new and existing sites, including space and capacity requirements based on volume forecasts
- Selection and dimensioning of storage and handling technology (e.g. pallet and shelf racking, flow racks, automated/vertical storage systems, conveyors, forklifts, AGVs/AMRs)
- Definition of storage strategies and warehouse processes (e.g. ABC/XYZ-based slotting, fixed/chaotic storage, FIFO, picking methods, cycle counting) and their mapping in the ERP/WMS (ap+)
- Preparation of warehouse investment requests and business cases as well as project management of warehouse expansions and relocations, from concept to ramp-up
- Consideration of occupational safety, fire protection and legal requirements (e.g. hazardous goods, battery storage) in warehouse planning
Intralogistics & Lean Logistics
- Development and implementation of efficient intralogistics concepts according to lean principles in cooperation with the operational logistics department
- Design and implementation of logistics processes at warehouse and production sites, from goods receipt to shipping, based on lean logistics principles (e.g. JIS, JIT, Kanban, tugger trains, 5S, FIFO and line back planning)
- Contribution to the design of the production structure with regard to digitalisation / Industry 4.0, with a focus on intralogistics
- Creation of workflows and processes including documentation, as well as design and delivery of trainings in lean logistics, SCM processes and PFEP usage
Projects, Change Management & Continuous Improvement
- Continuous improvement of logistics and SCM processes in cooperation with the operational logistics departments and the Process Planning department
- Support of product development projects in the context of industrialization and series production
- Handling of change requests for logistics and management of the resulting changes, including evaluation of logistics impact and updating of the PFEP
What We're Looking For
- Degree in engineering, industrial engineering or business administration with a focus on logistics, supply chain management, production or comparable qualification
- Expertise in intralogistics and logistics processes with lean logistics experience
- Knowledge of cycled / sequenced line supply concepts and process optimisation
- Solid knowledge of warehouse planning (layout, storage technology, warehouse processes) and good knowledge of SCM methods (material planning, inventory management, replenishment strategies)
- Practical experience in setting up and maintaining a Plan For Every Part (PFEP), ideally in series production
- Project management skills
- Certifications such as APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP) or Lean / Six Sigma (e.g. Green Belt) are an advantage
- Fluent English. Fluent Italian and/or German are an advantage
- Several years of professional experience in production logistics or supply chain management, either in operations or in planning
- Proven experience in designing and implementing warehouse and logistics processes in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in ERP/WMS systems, preferably ap+ (material master, warehouse and logistics modules)
- Proficient in MS Office (Windows, Excel - advanced, Word, Visio, PowerPoint); CAD for layout planning (e.g. AutoCAD) and BI tools (e.g. Power BI) are an advantage
