What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2026) or into Summer 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing battery and solar technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of the Thermal system team, you are the thermal system modeling intern that supports efforts on reaching optimal performance of vapor compression cycle that make Tesla Energy products like Megapack, Supercharger and Powerwall world class. This role requires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to modeling of thermal systems that are at the core of Tesla’s success.

Assist development of vapor compression cycle modelingIdentify potential of refrigerant system cooling capability/ efficiency across various applicationsBuild a platform of modular compression cycle for mechanical design fast iteration
What You'll Bring
Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fieldGood understanding of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Vapor Compression CycleFamiliarity with compressor, refrigerant, and heat exchanger modelingExperience with Python or Matlab

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $50.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
