Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our pilot production team. In this role you will help with the foundation of the new product line, contributing to process development, equipment development, and day-to-day production support.

What You'll Do
Develop, document, improve, and train Manufacturing Instructions for Cell Assembly processes while supporting the design, validation, and refinement of manufacturing processes to improve throughput and reduce waste (requires intimate hands-on process knowledge)Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, quality, and engineering) to sustain and improve key process metricsDiagnose and resolve equipment, tooling, process, and workflow issues to minimize downtime; operate and maintain complex production-representative equipment (e.g., laser welders and precision assembly tools)Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvementLead or support Kaizen events, root cause analyses, and Lean initiatives to eliminate bottlenecks and improve line efficiencyDesign, manage, deploy, and repair process tooling and partsDevelop, build, and execute comprehensive test setups for product validation, performance benchmarking, and reliability testing; calibrate, troubleshoot, and optimize lab instruments for accuracy and repeatability
What You'll Bring
Experience operating and troubleshooting automated/semi-automated manufacturing equipment, with the ability to analyze problems/error conditions, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutionsStrong mechanical aptitude, including precision assembly, fabrication, and proficient use of hand and power toolsSelf-directed, organized communicator with strong documentation habits and attention to procedural accuracyExperience working safely with hazardous materials (formal safety training or certification is a plus)Experience with data analysis using tools such as Excel, SQL, Minitab, Tableau, and SPC, plus knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principlesProficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and CAD modelsProficiency in 3D design software tools such as SolidWorks

Expected Compensation
$33.60 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
