Position Summary
The Senior Process Engineer is a key member of the Rochester Process Engineering team. The role works together with other disciplines to develop a fit-for-purpose manufacturing system by applying creative, cost-effective solutions, without ever compromising safety. In this role the individual is responsible for day-to-day production support, including troubleshooting, as well as development of process control strategies and data collection systems used to monitor and continuously improve operations.
By combining strong analytical thinking, a structured way of working, and an ability to explain and document processes, this role ensures process design is per industry’s best practices and compliant with applicable codes & standards. The successful candidate is enthusiastic about process control and process safety, self-motivated, able to handle multiple assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering organization.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and related manufacturing objectives and constraints.
- Support day-to-day coating operations by providing robust processes and process control parameters for consistent results.
- Provide direct support in troubleshooting of production coating process issues, driving fast root cause identification and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensures processes comply with applicable process safety codes & standards.
- Develops and maintains capacity models including documentation reflecting current and future state.
- Champions and facilitates the engineering change process and all relevant communication/documentation.
- Actively participates in design reviews and engineering development/NPI activities.
- Closely collaborates with process engineers in other Plug operations.
- Mentor team members and act as technical resource for guidance in their area of expertise.
- Responsible for clear and correct engineering documentation.
- Responsible for handling technical communication with internal and external engineering parties.
- Responsible for the technical review of supplier quotations.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering discipline preferred and/or relevant work experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in process engineering. Coating experience preferred.
- Experience documenting and developing robust process control methods.
- Proven track record of helping to drive manufacturing improvement projects.
- Familiar with applicable functional safety standards.
- Uncompromising dedication to product quality.

Pay Rate:
$92,300.00 - $138,400.00
