Volt Energy Materials LLC, US plans to establish a Customer Application and R&D Centre in Alabama to support Alabama Graphite Refinery and serve North American customers. The CAC will broadly focus on customer sampling, product development and qualification, process optimization, technology transfer to the commercial refinery, IP generation and protection, and explore new graphite applications beyond industrial and energy storage (batteries). We are looking for talented personnel to work at Volt’s R&D Centre in Alabama.

Roles and Responsibilities
a) Lead a team of interns(s), engineer(s) to plan and execute R&D projects on time, budget, and with safety compliance. Improve graphite products and scale laboratory processes up to manufacturing
b) Upgrade (as needed), maintain, and lead R&D facilities with strict adherence and compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and laboratory protocols. Manage relationship with site landlord as Site Manager.
c) Based on customer feedback, improve product or optimize process, and lower cost. During scale-up, solve manufacturing or processing challenges.
d) Collaborate with marketing, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and other teams
e) Lead and/or participate in meetings with customers, government funding agencies (DOE, DOD, etc.), other stakeholders
Qualifications
1. 5-10 years’ experience in
a) Graphite processing, evaluation, characterization, and graphite application development in industrial, battery (energy storage), and defense sectors
b) Pilot plant commissioning, start-up, and operations
c) Ability to convert customer specifications into marketable products
d) Scale-up or industrialization (R&D to pilot plant to commercial plant) of graphite or specialty materials.
e) Hands-on chemical R&D experience and familiarity with handling, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
2. Advanced degree in chemical engineering / material science / related field.
3. Strong project and people leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
