WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team in St. Louis, Missouri.
This opportunity is ideal for an emerging engineering professional seeking to advance their career while working alongside experienced professionals on a diverse portfolio of building projects. As part of our multidisciplinary Property & Buildings team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, mixed-use, government, science & technology, and other general building facilities.
You will support projects through all phases of development, from planning and design through construction administration, while gaining valuable technical experience and mentorship from industry-leading engineers.

Your Impact
- Assist with the design of building electrical systems, including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting systems and lighting controls
- Emergency and standby power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Low-voltage and special systems
- Support the preparation of construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies.
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop analyses, short-circuit studies, and other engineering evaluations under the guidance of senior staff.
- Develop engineering designs and construction documentation using Revit, AutoCAD, and related software platforms.
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, plumbing engineers, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Participate in field investigations, site visits, facility assessments, and construction observation activities.
- Review shop drawings, product submittals, and requests for information (RFIs).
- Support the preparation of engineering reports, presentations, and technical deliverables.
- Assist with maintaining project schedules and meeting client expectations for quality and responsiveness.
- Follow WSP quality standards and established engineering practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Alternate ABET-accredited degrees related to building systems and/or construction will be considered on a case by case basis.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in building electrical systems design or consulting engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable building codes.
- Familiarity with electrical building systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, AGi32, SKM, ETAP, or similar engineering software.
- Prior experience supporting commercial, healthcare, higher education, federal, municipal, mixed-use, or science & technology projects.
- Internship, co-op, or consulting engineering experience related to building systems design.
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- LEED Green Associate or other sustainability-related credentials.

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $74,100 - $101,900
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
