WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team in St. Louis, Missouri.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in building systems design who is looking to take on greater technical leadership responsibilities while contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, civic, mixed-use, and other general building projects throughout the region. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and help ensure the successful execution of projects through all phases from planning and design to construction administration.
Your Impact
- Lead the design and development of building electrical systems, including:
- Power distribution systems
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Lighting controls
- Emergency and standby power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Low-voltage and special systems
- Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Prepare and oversee engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, studies, and construction documents.
- Perform and review electrical load calculations, short-circuit analyses, coordination studies, arc flash studies, and other technical evaluations.
- Lead project design efforts utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering software platforms.
- Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, plumbing engineers, owners, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support project managers in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management activities.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.
- Conduct site investigations, facility assessments, condition evaluations, andconstruction observation visits.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and WSP quality management procedures.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Alternate ABET-accredited degrees related to building systems and/or construction will be considered on a case by case basis.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience designing electrical systems for buildings within a consulting engineering environment.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Demonstrated experience designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for building projects.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and related industry standards.
- Experience preparing and coordinating electrical construction documents and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality work within established schedules.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience serving as a lead electrical designer or discipline lead on building projects.
- Experience supporting commercial, healthcare, higher education, institutional, civic, mixed-use, government, or science & technology facilities.
- Familiarity with AGi32, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar engineering software.
- Experience with construction administration and field observation services.
- LEED Accredited Professional, LEED Green Associate, WELL AP, or similar sustainability credential.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting staff development.
- Experience participating in proposal development and client-facing activities.

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $94,300 - $137,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
