Marriott is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Corporate Systems, Oracle Payroll to join the team responsible for advancing our next generation cloud-based HR, Payroll, analytics, and AI platform. In this position, you will serve as a technical authority on system capabilities pertaining to HR and Payroll Products. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analysis, design, and development across a range of advanced solutions involving SaaS Oracle HCM, custom applications, APIs, and integration frameworks. You will be responsible for establishing technical standards and developing reusable frameworks to ensure secure, consistent, and efficient integration capabilities and product delivery.
The role also includes technical oversight of Service Provider deliverables, guiding their technical teams to meet high quality standards, adhere to best practices, and achieve performance objectives at scale.
Additionally, you will evaluate emerging technologies to identify future opportunities and address complex technical challenges. You will make informed decisions regarding complex, non-routine requests that support Marriott business teams in analytics-driven decision making.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/certification, with 6+ years of technology experience supporting and developing Oracle HCM Fusion Cloud applications.
- Strong expertise in Oracle Fusion Payroll configuration, including Elements, Calculation Cards, Balances, Payroll Flows and Fast Formulas.
- Hands-on experience with Payroll Costing, accounting reconciliation, and a solid understanding of the end-to-end payroll lifecycle.
- Proven experience implementing and integrating Oracle Payroll with Absence Management, Time & Labor (OTL), and Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
- Strong knowledge of the Oracle HCM security framework, including role-based security, data security, and access controls.
- Deep understanding of Oracle HCM Cloud architecture and configuration, including Business Objects, object relationships, seeded processes, system dependencies, enterprise/workforce structures, and Setup & Maintenance.
- Extensive experience with Fast Formulas, BI Publisher Reports, HCM Extracts, HDL/HSDL, REST APIs, and related data loading and reporting tools.
- Proficiency with Oracle HCM administration and extensibility tools such as Experience Design Studio, AutoComplete Rules, Alerts Composer, Page Composer, ESS Jobs, Journeys, Checklists, and Document Records.
- Experience managing application deployments and migrations using Sandboxes, Configuration Set Migration (CSM), and Functional Setup Manager (FSM), along with test planning and execution (Unit, SIT, Regression, and UAT).
- Strong analytical, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to gather requirements, produce solution designs, resolve technical issues, and manage multiple priorities in complex enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years’ domain experience relevant to supported business function; Industry and competitive landscape knowledge.
- 2 to 5 years of experience using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and/or Oracle SOA Suite
- Knowledge of SOA Web Services and REST integrations
- Completion of Oracle Global Human Resources Cloud: Oracle Payroll Implementation Certification
- Additional preference for Oracle certifications in any of the following cloud products: Global HR, Benefits, Payroll, Absence Management, Talent Management, Learning or Recruiting Cloud.
- Technology leadership experience in a sourced or internally managed environment
- Knowledge of related Oracle tools like Oracle Visual Builder Studio and APEX and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) PaaS.
- Experience with Airflow, Python
- Experience developing test plans, test scripts, managing unit, systems, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Experience in agile software methodologies
- Ability to work independently, identifying and driving required tasks to completion in a timely manner.
- Vendor management experience
- Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate
- Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested
- Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes.
- Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.
- Supports existing applications and large projects in a minimum of one environment.
- Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers
- Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider or internally managed team solutioning
- Through the service provider or internally managed teams, plans and coordinates complex implementation overseeing quality control of application functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation.
- Advises support desk on change management as it relates to support and training of new system
- Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes
- Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams
- Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development
- Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels
- Follows all defined IR standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
- Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk
- Follows the defined project management standards and processes
Service Provider, COTS and Custom Application Management
- Lead prioritization meetings with stakeholders and drive resolution of changes through the process for portfolio of supported applications
- Coordinate and track the delivery of highly visible operational activities/problems.
- Groom backlog of features and changes with stakeholders.
- Validates that Service Providers and internal teams develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
- Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources.
- Monitors Service Provider and internal team’s outcomes.
- Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers and internal teams for accuracy.
- Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients.
- Functions as an applications expert for both senior leadership and project teams in effective utilization of existing technology in business technical applications, either enterprise-wise or business-wide.
- Leads workgroup/project team or functions as a technical specialist.
- Supports and develops systems in a minimum of one environment.
- Develops and manages respective aspects of a project plan with minimal assistance, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
- Plans and coordinates complex integration(s) and implementation overseeing quality control of systems functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation.
- Coordinates with quality assurance, infrastructure services, vendor and internal application delivery teams.
- Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development.
- Provides accurate estimates of work effort for client project.
- Functions as a technical resource for other team members.
- Understanding and ability to facilitate and execute technical infrastructure, technical specialization and technical integration activities.
- Strong understanding of business processes, customers and functions.
