A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Thermal Spray Manufacturing Engineer, you will partner closely with coating operators, technicians, and production teams to support the daily execution of thermal spray coating processes for gas turbine combustion components. Your day will involve developing and optimizing coating parameters, troubleshooting equipment and robotic systems, participating in shop floor Gemba meetings, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will also lead advanced manufacturing technology projects, ensure process documentation is accurate and effective, and support quality assurance activities to maintain world-class coating performance and production standards.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Develop, implement, and optimize thermal spray coating processes, including Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) and High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) applications for combustion components.
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot robotic programs using ABB or Fanuc controls, including offline programming to support production and development activities.
- Provide hands-on technical support to coating operators and production teams by resolving process, equipment, and quality challenges on the shop floor.
- Lead continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing initiatives focused on process capability, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
- Design, adapt, and procure tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for thermal spray manufacturing operations.
- Develop technical work instructions, conduct training, and ensure coating processes are effectively communicated and sustained throughout manufacturing operations.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years of experience in thermal spray manufacturing, coatings technology, or a related advanced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and optimizing APS and/or HVOF coating processes.
- Experience operating, programming, and troubleshooting ABB or Fanuc robotic systems, including offline programming (RobotStudio preferred).
- Knowledge of metallurgical examination methods, coating evaluation practices, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
