Key Responsibilities
1. Full Project Lifecycle Management
- Take overall responsibility for the full lifecycle of EPC projects, covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, grid connection, and final handover.
- Lead project execution following contract award, develop the overall project schedule and key milestones, and take full accountability for schedule, cost, quality, and HSE performance.
- Review EPC contract scope and identify interface boundaries, variation risks, Liquidated and Ascertained Damages (LADs), warranty obligations, and contractual risks.
- Manage RFIs, variations, claims, and commercial negotiations throughout project delivery.
- Prepare regular weekly and monthly project reports, cost forecasts, and cash flow plans, and escalate key risks, constraints, and critical issues to senior management.
2. Engineering Design & Australian Compliance
- Coordinate and manage engineering design activities, including system design, single-line diagrams, protection settings, civil layouts, and fire protection design.
- Ensure project design and execution comply with applicable Australian standards, including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4777, and AS/NZS 5139.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers to confirm relevant products meet applicable CEC listing and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with network service providers throughout the grid connection process, including connection applications, technical assessments, protection coordination, DER registration, and applicable CSIP-AUS requirements.
3. Procurement, Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management
- Manage local subcontractors covering civil works, electrical installation, fire protection, lifting, and commissioning.
- Lead subcontractor prequalification, performance monitoring, progress assessment, and payment review.
- Coordinate the manufacturing and delivery of key BESS equipment, including battery containers, PCS, transformers, and associated electrical equipment.
- Manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), international shipping, Australian customs clearance, and inland transportation to site.
- Monitor material and equipment delivery schedules and resolve issues relating to shipment delays, missing components, and equipment quality.
4. Site Construction, HSE & Quality Management
- Lead overall site construction coordination and supervise key activities including civil foundations, BESS container installation, cable installation, and fire protection system installation.
- Ensure full compliance with Australian WHS legislation and site safety requirements.
- Implement site safety meetings, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments, working-at-heights controls, and high-voltage work permits.
- Drive a strong safety culture and proactively manage site risks to prevent incidents.
- Implement QA/QC inspections, monitor workmanship and construction quality, and coordinate stage inspections and acceptance activities.
5. Commissioning, Grid Connection & Project Handover
- Coordinate equipment-level and system-level commissioning, including integrated testing of BMS, PCS, EMS, and associated systems.
- Support and coordinate third-party witnessed testing where required.
- Lead grid connection testing with the relevant Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP), including anti-islanding, protection, voltage ride-through, and other grid compliance tests.
- Drive the project through final grid approval and commercial operation readiness.
- Coordinate Provisional Acceptance (PAC) and Final Acceptance (FAC).
- Manage the preparation and handover of complete project documentation, including as-built drawings, compliance records, test reports, operation manuals, and final project dossiers.
6. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key project interface with external stakeholders, including clients, EPC partners, subcontractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and network service providers.
- Coordinate internal cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, supply chain, commissioning, commercial, and project controls to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Maintain effective communication across all stakeholders and proactively resolve technical, commercial, schedule, and site-related issues.
