This position will evaluate plant equipment to increase operating reliability. This includes, but is not limited to, delay analysis, developing repair/upgrade plans, working with operating departments to address chronic equipment and processing problems. In addition, the position will also provide support for plant projects requiring engineering skills.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for safety design modifications and improvements to equipment and facilities.
- Support production in the execution and expansion of preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Responsible for developing, documenting, and improving preventive maintenance programs in order to support the improvement of equipment availability and throughput.
- Maintain an effective preventative maintenance program. Assist in problem solving for unplanned downtime. Develop and maintain outside resources as needed.
- Develop and maintain a critical spares inventory.
- Prepare and review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and determine/evaluate corrective action items and the impact of corrective action items to the preventive maintenance programs.
- Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions.
- Assists Operations Manager with managing capital projects and major maintenance activities.
- Plan/Schedule equipment maintenance, replacement, upgrades with operations.
- Follow and enforce TIMET policies and procedures
- Support production to meet established goals safety, quality, and throughput
- Manage plant maintenance system, by creating new PM's, issuing WO's, updating assets, etc.
- Monitor and control maintenance costs
- Coordinate outside contractor work activities with maintenance personnel or production personnel as required to minimize impacts to cost and production.
- Oversee the development of standard operating procedures for maintenance activities
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement to processes (safety & quality), equipment and maintenance (maximize reliability, melt time), including recording of data and data analysis.
- Determine and install appropriate performance metrics that will promote long-term continuous improvement programs consistent with the operating objectives of the department.
- Develop and work to budgets to achieve cost management goals, and initiate or participate in cost reduction and/or profit improvement programs.
- Provides support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Perform Process and Project Engineering duties.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Maintenance Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor with a minimum 3-5 years of proven experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Metals experience would be very helpful (desired – not required).
- Experience with FMEA/Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Six Sigma experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated project management, facilitation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- 3 years relevant experience preferred
- Knowledge of Solidworks and AutoCAD
- Strong computer skills (MS Office)
