EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time (direct hire) Energy Engineer for one of our partners, an energy-efficiency and building-systems company building out the engineering team behind its energy monitoring and submetering deployments across the Pacific Northwest. In this position, you will own on-site and remote technical execution (audits, metering design, system commissioning, dashboard onboarding, and post-deployment troubleshooting) across electric, gas, and water monitoring deployments, working directly with customers throughout delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead on-site technical work across the project lifecycle: facility audits, metering design, system commissioning, and post-deployment support, as the primary technical point of contact for customers in the field.
- Design submetering and energy data acquisition systems across electric, gas, and water, including meter selection, CT/PT application, and integration with building management systems via BACnet and Modbus.
- Analyze utility, interval, and submeter data to find trends and opportunities, and translate them into actionable, customer-facing insights and recommendations.
- Lead dashboard onboarding and customer demos, and maintain relationships through post-deployment consulting and troubleshooting.
- Own commissioning of metering and monitoring systems (communications, point mapping, scaling, data accuracy), resolving issues in field and remote environments.
- Develop technical deliverables (points lists, system layouts, integration documentation) and coordinate closely with Project Management and vendors to drive successful deployment and closeout.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or an Associate degree in an engineering discipline plus five or more years of end-to-end field implementation of metering, controls, or building systems integration, including commissioning and troubleshooting).
- Minimum three years in energy engineering, energy efficiency, commissioning, or building / facility systems, including exposure to energy metering or data-driven energy analysis.
- Experience with energy metering, submetering, or building automation / data systems, including commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, or validation of operational data.
- Working knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and Modbus TCP/RTU, and of CT/PT metering fundamentals.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis (no visa sponsorship). Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Measurement and verification (M&V) or energy-audit experience.
- Field deployment in commercial / industrial facilities, including retrofit environments with legacy infrastructure.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar.
- Ability to read electrical one-lines and panel schedules and design multi-vendor metering / data acquisition systems.
