EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time Senior Electronics Engineer for one of our partners that develops and manufactures advanced robotic and electromechanical systems used in demanding industrial and commercial environments. In this position, you will design, prototype, test, and continuously improve the electronic systems that power next-generation robotic platforms, working hands-on with power electronics, embedded firmware, sensor systems, communications hardware, and integrated control systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate electronic subsystems for advanced robotic platforms, including power conversion circuits, motor control systems, sensor interface hardware, and communications modules
- Create and maintain circuit schematics and PCB layouts using industry-standard design tools such as Altium Designer
- Evaluate and select components based on performance, reliability, availability, manufacturability, and cost targets
- Design and troubleshoot battery management systems, including charging circuits, protection mechanisms, and state-of-charge monitoring
- Collaborate with software and systems engineering teams to define hardware requirements and ensure successful integration
- Develop, test, and debug low-level firmware for embedded microcontrollers and programmable logic devices
- Implement and validate communications protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, and other industrial interfaces
- Design electronics for operation in harsh and environmentally challenging conditions
- Verify compliance with EMC, safety, and product reliability requirements
- Develop and execute comprehensive validation and qualification test plans
- Troubleshoot field-reported issues using structured root-cause analysis methodologies
- Maintain engineering documentation including schematics, bills of materials, design files, test procedures, and validation reports
- Support manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams during product introduction and production
- Work closely with mechanical, software, and production teams to ensure successful product development and deployment
- Provide technical support for customer-facing teams through documentation, demonstrations, and troubleshooting assistance
- Contribute to product roadmap planning and future technology development initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing electronic systems
- Strong experience with power electronics, motor control systems, and DC power architectures
- Proficiency in PCB design using Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar tools
- Experience with embedded microcontrollers and low-level hardware integration
- Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, signal conditioning, and sensor integration
- Strong troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory equipment
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in both engineering lab and manufacturing environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 15%) as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when handling equipment and test systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing electronics for robotics, automation, industrial equipment, aerospace, marine, energy, or other ruggedized applications
- Familiarity with Linux and embedded software development environments
- Experience with brushless motor control systems and motion-control applications
- Knowledge of environmental protection techniques such as conformal coating, sealing, or ruggedized electronics design
- Familiarity with IPC, IEC, UL, MIL-STD, or similar industry standards
- Experience supporting products through prototype, validation, and production phases
