About the Role
The Regional Sales Manager serves as the primary liaison between BYD Canada and its dealer network within an assigned territory. This role is responsible for driving dealer performance, sales growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence while ensuring consistent execution of BYD’s sales strategy and brand standards. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, supporting dealer development and market expansion as BYD continues to grow its Passenger Vehicle business across Canada.
Responsibilities
Dealer Network Development
- Develop, coach, and support dealership partners to achieve sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational performance objectives.
- Establish annual and quarterly sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with BYD Canada's business objectives.
- Conduct regular dealer performance reviews and implement action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen dealer capabilities, retail operations, and customer experience.
Sales Performance Management
- Monitor and analyze dealer sales performance, market opportunities, and competitive activities within the assigned region.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address performance gaps and maximize sales results.
- Ensure dealers maintain optimal inventory levels, effective lead management practices, and compliance with BYD retail standards and processes.
- Support dealers in achieving retail sales targets, market share growth, and profitability objectives.
Market Development & Retail Excellence
- Collaborate with dealers to develop and execute regional business and marketing plans that support local market growth.
- Identify opportunities to enhance sales processes, customer engagement, and promotional activities.
- Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor initiatives, providing recommendations to improve BYD’s market position.
- Support new product launches and regional sales campaigns to drive customer acquisition and brand awareness.
Dealer Relationship Management
- Serve as BYD’s primary point of contact for dealership partners within the assigned territory.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with dealer principals, general managers, sales managers, and ownership groups.
- Act as a professional and credible ambassador for the BYD brand, fostering alignment and engagement across the dealer network.
- Facilitate regular business reviews and maintain ongoing communication with key stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Aftersales, Finance, Logistics, and Product teams to ensure consistent execution of business objectives.
- Provide market intelligence, dealer feedback, and competitive insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate internal resources to resolve dealer issues and support business growth initiatives.
Budget & Commercial Management
- Manage regional sales programs, dealer incentives, and allocated budgets to maximize business performance.
- Make sound commercial recommendations and decisions within established guidelines and approval authorities.
- Ensure effective utilization of resources to support dealer success and achieve regional targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Automotive Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive sales management, dealer development, or a related leadership role.
- Experience working with OEMs, automotive distributors, or dealer networks is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian automotive retail environment and dealership operations.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to drive sales growth and dealer performance.
- Strong business acumen with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop dealer teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using CRM, reporting, and sales performance management tools.
- Solid understanding of dealer profitability, retail finance, and commercial operations is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, highly responsive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned region and across Canada as required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel internationally when necessary.
- Fluency in English is required; French language proficiency is considered a strong asset.
