About the Job
Position Summary
The Network Development Manager is responsible for supporting the development, optimize action, and performance of BYD Canada's dealer network development, this role plays a critical part in executing BYD's network expansion strategy, evaluating dealer performance, and ensuring the dealer network is positioned to support sustainable business growth across Canada.
The successful candidate will lead dealer network planning initiatives, and coordinate with the dealer to manage all the dealership construction projects. Support dealer onboarding and market representation activities, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and network effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Network Strategy & Dealer Network Development
- Develop and implement dealer network development strategies that support BYD Canada's long-term business objectives and market expansion plans.
- Create and execute market representation plans to ensure optimal dealer coverage, customer accessibility, and business growth opportunities across Canada.
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit high-potential dealer partners with the financial strength, operational capability, and commitment to represent the BYD brand successfully.
- Support the expansion, consolidation, and optimization of the dealer network to align with market demand and business objectives.
Dealer Performance & Business Planning
- Monitor and evaluate dealer performance across key metrics, including market share, sales performance, Net Promoter Score (NPS), facility standards, and operational capacity.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives for underperforming dealerships and develop corrective action plans to drive sustainable growth.
- Analyze dealer financial performance, market potential, and retail operations to identify opportunities for improvement and network enhancement.
- Support volume growth and market share objectives through strategic dealer network planning and execution.
Dealer Contract Management
- Lead dealership negotiations and manage dealer agreements, term renewals, and contractual obligations.
- Oversee dealer appointment processes, including minority ownership appointments and new dealer approvals.
- Ensure compliance with corporate standards, policies, and regulatory requirements throughout all network development activities.
Dealer Onboarding
- Manage the onboarding process for new dealer partners, ensuring successful integration into the BYD network.
- Manage the store construction project, coordinate with dealer, design firm, and suppliers to support dealership openings. Ensure that the dealership can meet the corresponding standards of BYD and open up on time.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Aftersales, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of network initiatives.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal stakeholders and dealer partners.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Conduct market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify network opportunities, gaps, and emerging trends.
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership regarding network optimization, dealer placement, and future market opportunities.
- Support annual business planning and network development forecasting activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Background
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive network development, dealer operations, retail development, or related functions.
- Direct experience working for an automotive OEM within Canada is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in dealer network planning, dealer performance management, and market representation strategies.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret dealer financial statements, profitability metrics, and retail performance reports.
- Demonstrated experience leading dealer negotiations, contract management, and network development initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
- Effective communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Additional Requirements
- Fluency in both English and French is required.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian automotive retail landscape and dealer network operations.
- Experience across multiple automotive functions, including sales, network development, dealer operations, or business planning, is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to travel across Canada as required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel internationally when necessary.
