Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.
About The Team
Tesla Electronics Test and Automation Team is looking for an amazing Embedded Systems Engineering intern who would be responsible for designing and developing test hardware, software, and technical processes. This role will work in cross-functional environments with the electronics design teams, firmware and integration teams, and manufacturing teams to come up with sophisticated automatic functional to support high-volume electronics manufacturing.
What You'll Do
Design and develop Automated Test Equipment for functional test of PCBA & Low Voltage modules Create production test specifications for electronic hardware Read, interpret, and diagnose schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuits Design and implement software to test the unit, and communicate with test equipment such as power supply, signal generators, DAQ, spectrum analyzer Develop software drivers and framework to interface with PCBAs using CAN, LIN, Ethernet & USB Collaborate with cross functional teams, hardware and software teams Support bring-up, validation, and development of new hardware and systems at suppliers Sustain existing testers at suppliers
What You'll Bring
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldExperience with software development, especially with Python and Golang Familiarity with Linux distributions preferredFamiliarity with Perl, Rust, or C/C++ preferredHands-on experience debugging electronics Experience/thorough understanding with the following protocols: JTAG, SWD, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN, I2C, Ethernet Experience working on testing hardware, software, or any integration work

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $55.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
