Role SummaryAs a Manager in our Paint Manufacturing Engineering team, you will lead part of the team designing and implementing manufacturing processes at Rivian’s Paint shop. In this role your focus will be to implement new paint infrastructure, new process development, equipment implementation at our Normal, IL facility to drive increased capacity and improve operational efficiency. This role will initially be located at our Normal, IL facility with relocation to Atlanta in 12-18 months and reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering, Sr. Director.
Responsibilities- Join the leadership team developing the next generation manufacturing lines for Rivian!
- Build and manage a team delivering paint automation technologies needed for launching & producing multiple vehicle systems.
- Define and execute strategic milestones for implementing and scaling world class manufacturing facilities for high volume electric vehicle assembly.
- Execute product and process validation path to achieve world class manufacturing objectives.
- Work with design teams across multiple disciplines to influence product design with an eye towards advanced manufacturing
- Develop a multitude of technologies concurrently to continually assess mass production viability
- Work with external and internal equipment suppliers to deliver manufacturing line(s)
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Material/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical field
- 2+ years of experience managing a team
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering
- Ability to scale a team, scale prototyping, scale production
- Deep experience in manufacturing engineering and production challenges
- Ability to lead a team delivering infrastructure upgrade projects to accomplish company goals in a fast pace, demanding, dynamic environment
- Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing (proto-typing, OEE, equipment selection, DFM, 8D, CAD)
- Critical problem-solving skills: ability to ask the right people, the right questions at the right time in the right way
- Detail oriented: ability to become subject matter expert in order to make informed decisions
- Curiosity: demonstrate level of interest that enables inventiveness
- Execution: demonstrate that follow through is given as much attention as problem solving
- Structured: able to organize chaos through methodical framework and documentation to achieve goals harmoniously
- Capable of leading across several cross functional disciplines, including product design, quality, construction, production, supply chain, controls, external vendors etc.
- Work with building design, construction and facilities in all phases of construction
- Experience with conveyance and manual work deck design and operation - Preferred
- Experience with Pre-treatment & E-coat process, sealer application and/or paint application – Preferred
- Industrial engineering experience working in high-volume assembly processes - Preferred
- A comprehensive understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - Preferred
Pay DisclosureSalary Range/Hourly Rate for Illinois Based Applicants: $125,800-$157,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
