Our Sauerlach office near Munich has been our European engineering hub since 2020. We’re currently looking for someone to shape the finance side of our German location.
Finance Lead (m/f/d)
We’re looking for a Finance Lead who’s ready to take ownership and team responsibility from day one. In this role, you’ll oversee all finance topics. You will be the trusted sparring partner to the Managing Director and a key connector between Germany and our U.S. headquarters. This is your opportunity to take the lead, build smart financial structures, own core processes, and shape the finance function for long-term success.
Your tasks:
- Be the trusted finance partner for the Managing Director in Germany with eyes on numbers, business models, and smart decision-making
- Drive our core finance operations (accounting, payments, tax, compliance) with external partners in sync with Joby´s Headquarters in California
- Support monthly, quarterly & annual closings under HGB and contribute to US-GAAP group reporting
- Manage intercompany flows, local cash planning, and reporting
- Work closely with our U.S. finance and inventory teams
- Shape, redefine and improve financial processes and tools as we grow
- Run, integrate and optimize our ERP (Microsoft D365 FO) as well as other systems
- Lead by example: mentor, guide, and empower a (small) finance team
- Own special tasks like transfer pricing, RSU tax handling, and strategic projects
Your profile:
- A solid foundation in Finance: ideally apprenticeship + business degree or a similar path that demonstrates your expertise for the role
- 3–7 years of experience in a comparable function ideally in a fast-paced and fast-growing company (tech/startup is a plus, and so is a production/machining environment)
- Strong grasp of HGB, and ideally exposure to US-GAAP or IFRS
- A hands-on, structured, and solution-driven mindset
- Passion for technology and systems - you really enjoy tools like Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO
- Excellent communication skills in both English and German
- You are positive, think big, act hands-on and love making things work more smoothly
