What To Expect
The New Programs Engineering team is looking for a dedicated technician to join our team in an advanced and fast paced work environment. The Prototype Vehicle Technician will lead the build of prototypes, functional prototypes and prototypes vehicles in support of New Programs Engineering.
The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They must be able to balance tight deadlines with demanding requirements. Additionally, they must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams, including engineers, fabricators, machinists and hardware and software engineers.
What You'll Do
Lead the build, final mechanical sign-off, maintenance, and storage of prototype vehicles, mules and bucksLead diagnostics for electrical system within mechatronic systemsLiaison with aero engineers, mechanical design engineers, electronics and fabrication leads to ensure successful project delivery to challenging timelinesLead instrumentation and data acquisition setup including bespoke harness manufactureCompletion of checks and calibration ahead of asset useOrganization of vehicle and test equipment logistics for offsite eventsMaintenance of tools and consumables suppliesProactive involvement in development methods and processes to deliver continuous improvementEnthusiasm for extensive travel to support prototype build and validation
What You'll Bring
A proven record of delivering excellence as an automotive, race or custom builder or technicianExperience in vehicle part installation, wheel/tire changes and suspension installation and setupUnderstanding of mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, hydraulics, bushings and actuatorsGood working knowledge of machine shop tools for fabrication of componentsExperience in full vehicle prototyping strongly preferredExperience with test controls and data acquisition preferredBasic CAD skills – ability to load and interrogate models and assembliesA proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft OfficeAutomotive Technology degree, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability preferred

Expected Compensation
$27.36 - $47.88/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
