We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.
Job Summary: The OHS Coordinator is responsible for the execution of OHS program elements in support of the company’s ISO-45001, Safety Management System (SMS). Additionally, this role will be required to maintain active communication with OHS Manager for Commissioning.
Essential Duties
- Have the passion and the right attitude to promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Know the layout of the facility and be able to complete duties with no supervision
- Coaching (on the floor) with English and non-English speaking vendors and technical advisors on regulatory requirements while commissioning equipment.
- Master the OHS processes and confident using OHS equipment (ex: gas monitors, sound meters, etc.), tools, and reporting systems
- Conduct OHS audits and inspection processes relating to eyewash, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers with no supervision
- Competent conducting OHS trainings; Conduct OHS orientations and on-boarding as needed
- Respond to incidents (injuries, near misses, property damages, etc.), implement containment actions, and gather information for incident investigation purposes Able to investigate OHS incidents independently, identify corrective/preventative actions, classify them, and file them properly
- Produce OHS Incident Report and other reports in a consistently high-quality manner
- Have base knowledge of regulatory standards and good industry practices; monitor processes for regulatory compliance
- Ability to create OHS programs or training materials; identify various training needs and assist in creating a thorough training / employee evaluation process Partner with production supervisors, managers, and frontline employees to support implementing the setting strategies
- Apply thorough OHS Coordinator knowledge and skills in specific areas and tasks
- Able to spot, report, and prevent incidents on site; Communicate clearly and interactively with employees and coach them
- Write OHS incident reports, daily, monthly, annually
- Walk various processes and environments; build relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers; become familiar with various machines, equipment, and production processes
- Utilize various Behavior Based Programs to promote proactive solutions
- Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 6S practices
- Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization
- Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by the OHS Manager or Senior OHS Staff
- Proactively identify and act on opportunities to continuously improve
- Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by OHS management.
- Collect and analyze data using commercial or in-house platforms. Effectively communicate information to verify compliance and continuous improvement efforts. Assist with industrial hygiene to identify and control physical, chemical, and biological hazards in the workplace.
- Assist OHS with revisions to programs, policies, workplace instructions, guidance documents, and training assist with the implementation of 6S in production areas. Working alone or with cross-discipline team members, complete projects to both improve processes in existing production lines and install/commission new production capacity.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports and permitting requirements as needed.
- Interact and support at all organizational levels, both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to add value to the organization.
- Perform any other duties assigned by OHS leader.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Report quality issues, concerns, or deviations from standards to Supervisors and Engineers in a timely manner.
- Maintain detailed inspection, quality issues and deviation records as required.
- Ensure adherence to quality, general plant and PECNA policies and procedures.
- Ensure area cleanliness and 6S standards are met.
- Ability to train others at same or lower level within functional area.
- Ability to work all scheduled shifts.
- Ability to meet the physical demands and the PPE requirements of the role.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Education Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry, or related science or technical field from an accredited college or university
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
- Have solid listening and communication skills and be adaptable
- Ability to interact and create cohesion with other team members
- Must have the ability to deal with complexity/ambiguity
- Must be personable and exhibit professionalism
