About The Role
This position is responsible for building electro-mechanical products in accordance with customer supplied assembly documentation and Vander-Bend Manufacturing standards.
Responsibilities
- Assembles mechanical, electrical, and electronic parts and components into higher level products independently or under limited supervision
- Follows written or electronic assembly instructions in the form of “MPI”s” (Manufacturing Process Instructions), blueprints, and verbal instructions.
- Uses primarily hand tools for assembly, including mechanical tools such as manual, battery, and pneumatic screwdrivers, wrenches, and riveters, as well as electrical assembly tools such as crimpers, cutters, and hand soldering equipment.
- Sets up work area, selects tools required to complete the operation.
- Assures accurate logging of labor hours and accurate part quantities into Visual Manufacturing ERP
- Reviews completion of previous operations and notifies the lead if omission or discrepancy from a previous operation is detected.
- Performs low to moderate level product testing using established methods and fixtures.
- Reads, understands, interprets, and accurately follows complex written assembly instructions without assistance
- Provides technical assistance to less skilled assemblers.
Requirements / Skills
- Requires minimum of 10 years of previous assembly work, 5 years of which must be directly related to Electro-Mechanical products.
- Experience performing detailed tasks hour after hour (intricate tape masking).
- High School Diploma.
- Requires ability to use various shop tools including pneumatic screwdrivers, wrenches, riveters, crimpers, cutters, and hand soldering equipment.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must have basic computer skills (finding and opening documents, filling in forms).
- Requires ability to read, write and understand written documents in English.
- Good dexterity.
- Ability to remain focused on detailed tasks for long periods of time.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
