Position Overview
The Business Development Manager – Naval Sector will lead new business opportunities and manage customer relationships among naval business stakeholders. This position will partner with the Senior Director, Business Development- Naval Sector to reach the organization’s strategic growth objectives in the naval market by understanding customers’ most urgent needs and creating a leading strategy. This individual will identify, qualify, and lead pursuits for naval program opportunities. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Promote the company, its naval capabilities and commitment to the US defense market in line with company strategy and policies.
- Grow the opportunity pipeline through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities, including pre-RFP development activities.
- Build and maintain key relationships amongst Navy, USG, industry, and key partners
- Participate in cross-functional teams spanning the organization (Operations, Finance, Program Management, Engineering).
- Develop and/or support strategic initiatives/projects.
- Create capture strategies and lead capture efforts to include color team reviews.
- Coordinate with other Hanwha affiliates (e.g., Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Ocean)
- Evaluate potential M&A opportunities and supports respective projects.
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant Business Development experience
- Strong understanding of US Naval landscape
- Experience with US DoD acquisition process
- Deep familiarity with current Naval campaigns and related stakeholders
- Experience building and maintaining relationships
- Former Navy preferred
- Must be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering or related field
- Equivalent Military Experience
Special Knowledge / Skills
- Has the ability to interpret technical specifications and/or requirements
- Excellent business acumen
- Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team environment.
- Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data and present in a clear manner.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to travel domestically (25%) and occasionally internationally (5%) required.
