Position:
Role: Foundation Fundraising and Event Officer.
Location: West Ham Foundation Hub Beckton.
Contract: Full Time.
Salary: Competitive.
The West Ham United Foundation is looking for a passionate and proactive Fundraising & Events Officer to join their team and play a key role in organizing, executing, and overseeing a variety of events and fundraising campaigns. Reporting directly to the Fundraising Manager, the successful candidate will manage events like the Foundation’s Gala Dinner and Golf Day, as well as coordinate commercial activities at the newly refurbished Foundation Hub, including children’s birthday parties and corporate away days.
This role will involve supporting and taking the lead on a range of events that align with the Foundation’s mission to engage the local community, raise essential funds, and provide unforgettable experiences. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure each event runs smoothly and contributes to the Foundation’s objectives.
The West Ham United Foundation runs 35 programs, reaching 50,000 participants annually, ranging from young children to older adults, through its community projects.
Main Responsibilities;
- Event Planning & Execution: Lead and manage the Foundation’s key commercial events.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, donors, partners, and suppliers for successful event execution.
- Budget Management: Oversee event budgets, ensuring financial efficiency while maximizing fundraising potential.
- Venue Oversight: Manage the Foundation Hub’s event spaces, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Health & Safety: Conduct risk assessments and ensure events adhere to safety standards for a secure experience.
- Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with marketing to create promotional campaigns that boost awareness and participation.
- Customer Service: Engage with participants, donors, and guests to ensure a positive experience throughout the event lifecycle.
- Event Staffing: Coordinate staffing, ensuring appropriate levels and training for successful event support.
- Post-Event Insights: Lead evaluations, gathering feedback to improve future events.
- Fundraising Strategy: Work with the Fundraising Manager to develop strategies (auctions, raffles, etc.) to boost fundraising efforts.
- Administrative Excellence: Keep detailed records of participants, donations, and event specifics to support the Foundation’s goals.
Requirements:
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualification/Education;
Essential:
- Relevant professional qualification in events management and/or fundraising.
- Experience in the charitable or sports sector.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic event management software.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations with the ability to ensure compliance during events.
Desired:
- Knowledge of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising code of practice.
Experience;
Essential:
- Proven experience in event planning, particularly in fundraising or community-focused environments.
- Experience working collaboratively within the community.
- Knowledge of event marketing and social media strategies for promoting events.
- Experience with booking/membership systems.
Desired:
- Experience with financial systems and budget management.
- Familiarity with online donation platforms and digital fundraising tools.
