About Slate: Slate is a new company exploring innovation in the electric vehicle space. As we scale rapidly, we are building a forward-thinking finance organization that partners across the business to drive informed, data-backed decisions.
Who we are looking for: We are seeking an experienced and systems-oriented Director, Commercial FP&A to lead the development of Slate's financial planning and analysis capabilities for all components of the P&L above gross profit, including revenue, volume, pricing, and channel mix. This role will be instrumental in designing the planning and reporting infrastructure from the ground up, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver clear visibility into business performance and margin drivers.
In the first two years, this role will be heavily focused on building and automating planning and reporting capabilities across NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, and our suite of eCommerce and sales platforms. The ideal candidate combines deep FP&A expertise with a builder's mindset and the ability to translate financial and business requirements into system-driven solutions.
This role will also work closely with Manufacturing FP&A and Plant Controlling to ensure end-to-end margin transparency, connecting commercial trends to cost drivers and enabling a unified view of gross margin performance.
What you get to do:
- Build and own financial planning processes for revenue, volume, pricing, and mix (PVM) for forecasts and budgets, as well as collaborate closely on long-range planning for current and future products.
- Design and deliver automated reporting for volume, pricing, mix, and PVM variance analyses to support timely, data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and standardize business-facing dashboards and financial reports leveraging NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, and eCommerce data sources.
- Serve as the finance lead for commercial systems integrations, ensuring upstream data feeds and sales systems align with financial planning and reporting requirements.
- Partner closely with Slate's Commercial Planning and Digital teams to understand business drivers and embed them in planning processes.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing FP&A and Plant Controlling to align on gross margin reporting and understand how cost levers interact with commercial performance.
- Deliver insights and executive-ready analysis to support strategic decision-making at the leadership level.
- Build scalable processes to support ongoing P&L management and commercial analytics as Slate grows.
What you bring to the team: We're looking for someone with:
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A, with at least 3 years focused on revenue or commercial planning.
- Bachelor of Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
- Strong experience with PVM reporting, revenue analysis, and financial modeling.
- Proven ability to build FP&A processes and reporting from the ground up.
- Hands-on experience with finance systems—particularly NetSuite (ERP), Adaptive Planning (EPM), and eCommerce data environments (Shopify, Salesforce, etc.).
- Solid understanding of how commercial inputs affect gross margins and financial performance.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills; able to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving systems and processes.
- A collaborative, business-partner mindset and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
