What To Expect
We seek a highly motivated hands-on Mechanical Engineer for a position in the Manufacturing Test Engineering group as part of the “machine that builds the machine”. The group is focused on creating robust, beautiful, data-centric production testing equipment for Tesla’s power electronic components in vehicle, stationary storage, humanoid robot and charging products.

What You'll Do
Architect automated test equipment, produce detailed-level CAD models, pneumatic diagrams, and verify designs using structural and thermal FEA and CFDConceptual equipment development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limitsIdentify opportunities and implement performance, robustness, ease of assembly improvementsAnalyze system constraints and propose innovative solutionsSupport building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts, and fine-tune equipment for release to productionConduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery to ensure robustness and qualityPerform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience4+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to productionKnowledge in solid mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, dynamics, material selection, prototyping, testing methods, everyday machining, and fabrication processesExposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots, relaysStrong teamwork skills with a proven ability to interact and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplinesVersed in SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys, or similar CAD/CAE softwareExperience on student engineering teams and organizations such as BAJA or Formula SAE, or similar, is a plusWillingness to travel domestically and internationally
