What To Expect
Cathode seeks a highly motivated engineer to drive operations at a cutting‑edge battery‑materials manufacturing plant. The will support the Cathode facilities team across wet mechanical, dry mechanical, and process system, handling design reviews, commissioning, system startup and day‑to‑day operations of all facility systems.
What You'll Do
Lead startup, commissioning, and turnover of large industrial mechanical and chemical systems (chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, dust collection, reverse‑osmosis), owning performance from design review through installation, startup, and steady‑state operationProvide first‑principles technical support to operations teams and troubleshoot facility‑system issuesCreate, review, and execute startup plans, commissioning procedures, functional performance tests, and turnover packagesInitiate, develop, and lead process‑improvement projects aimed at reliability, energy efficiency, capacity, and maintainabilityPartner with controls, electrical, facilities operations, construction, and vendors to meet operational, safety, and reliability requirementsTrack and analyze root causes of process upsets, equipment failures, near‑misses, and safety incidents; capture learnings and incorporate them into team trainingReview engineering designs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation for large utility and process‑support systems
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience3+years industry experience supporting start‑up, commissioning, or operation of large utility/process systems Cross‑functional collaboration experience with mechanical, controls, electrical, and operations teams Hands‑on knowledge of rotating equipment, heat exchangers, pumps, cooling towers, air compressors, AHUs, filtration/dust‑collection, piping & instrumentation Strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills Proficient in data and system analysis
