Job Overview
At Harbinger Motors, the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a pivotal role in championing a world-class safety culture across our dynamic Manufacturing & Research & Development (R&D) facilities. Reporting directly to the EHS Manager, you will be the driving force behind comprehensive EHS programs, ensuring strict regulatory compliance while proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. This is a critical support function dedicated to safeguarding and empowering cross-functional teams at Harbinger Motors locations.This role is assigned and requires flexibility to support second-shift operations.
What You’ll Do
- EHS Program Management: Support the creation, and implementation of EHS programs that align with Harbinger Motors' rapid growth, ensuring strict regulatory compliance while driving a proactive, injury-free work environment.
- Proactive Risk Mitigation & Auditing: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and ergonomic evaluations across the manufacturing zones; vehicle assembly, and high-voltage battery lines to proactively eliminate workplace hazards.
- Safety Culture Leadership: Co-chair the site EHS Safety Committee and mentor frontline workers to act as Safety Champions. Foster open communication, drive engagement, and empower team member
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead cross-functional investigations for incidents, near-misses, and safety observations. Utilize advanced root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone) to develop and track Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCAs) to closure.
- Training & Empowerment: Deliver engaging, role-specific EHS training programs—covering hazard recognition, lockout/tagout (LOTO), high-voltage safety, and emergency response—to empower employees at all levels.
- Regulatory Compliance & Liaison: Serve as the subject matter expert for local, state, and federal EHS regulations (e.g., CalOSHA, DTSC, DOT). Maintain organizational compliance, and support EHS recordkeeping and reporting requirements
- Hazardous Materials Management: Oversee the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency response plans and procedures efforts. Conduct drills and simulations to test readiness and ensure effective response in emergencies.
- Data-Driven Safety Metrics: Track, analyze, and report on leading and lagging EHS indicators. Leverage data to identify trends, prioritize safety initiatives, and present actionable insights to site leadership.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience in environmental health and safety roles, with a demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively train employees and communicate safety guidelines.
- Minimum bachelor's degree preferred in occupational safety, health or other related scientific disciplines.
- Automotive experience preferred.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds with ease.
- Ability and willingness to work second shift hours
- Experience with EHS management software platforms (e.g., VelocityEHS) for incident tracking and SDS management.

California Pay Range
$110,000—$150,000 USD
