Job Summary:
The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (SAME) is responsible for the design, and procurement of equipment as well as defining the processes needed to produce both high and low voltage products. The SAME is expected to work closely with Prototype and Design teams to troubleshoot issues and provide engineering support to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the process development of new parts and equipment by working closely with the prototype manufacturing team to support new components and systems launches.
- Work closely with production manufacturing teams to troubleshoot any issues that arise with product components and assemblies.
- Evaluates supplier information, specifications, and validation data to ensure the selection ofproper suppliers.
- Key contributor to Designing for Assembly (DFA) & Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Responsible for facilitating Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
- Responsible for leading multi-million-dollar projects and writing Statements of Requirements (SOR) to submit to equipment integrators.
- Supports all prototype system builds ensuring equipment is on time and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assures product and process quality by participating in testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Key contributor to mechanical system DFMEAs/PFMEAs.
- Expands professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Contributes to team growth by completing projects in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the design and procurement of parts with the ability to lead projects/people from start to finish.
- Develop other junior engineers and employees to improve their abilities and skills.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in automotive or similar product design and development.
- Familiarity with PLC (Allen Bradley preferred), HMI’s, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, low voltage circuits, high voltage circuits, torque drivers, bar code systems, database storage vision systems.
- Experience with TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
- Experience in Fixturing Design– Robotic, CNC, Weld.
- Experience working with assembly controls such as sensors, vision, mechanical poke yokes.
- Knowledge of Robotic/automated assembly processes vs. manual (when to use what, where, and why).
- Knowledge about Pneumatic assemblies, valve banks, air controls.
- Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), SolidWorks preferred, with strong concept development skills and the ability to convey ideas functionally is critical.
- Experience in multi-content assembly processes, non-siloed, full understanding of any product manufacturing stream from start to finish.
- Adept in various troubleshooting methods.
- Adept in data processing and statistical analysis.
- Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers.
- Experience with the handling of high voltage lithium-ion battery systems.
- Educated on common automotive & industry standards.
- Familiar with the product design process, reading equipment, and product drawings.
- Self-motivated problem solver; pays attention to the details.
