We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team and be based at our Bursa facility in Turkiye. This position serves as the primary responsible person for BIW welding equipment maintenance and reliability at the Turkey factory. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with full responsibility for maintenance team management, shift planning, training, safety, spare parts, budgeting, supplier management, system establishment, and localization.
The position is responsible for ensuring the reliability of welding robots, spot-welding systems, automated production lines, safety systems, and special equipment, while establishing a maintenance system compliant with Turkish OHS (İSG) regulations and EU CE machinery safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Take full responsibility for technical decision-making and troubleshooting during major equipment failures in the BIW welding workshop, including welding robots, resistance welding controllers, PLCs, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Lead RCA and 8D processes to eliminate recurring failures and minimize downtime.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Establish and manage the complete PM/TPM maintenance system, inspection standards, maintenance strategies, and annual/quarterly/monthly maintenance plans. Monitor MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and equipment failure rates to continuously improve equipment reliability.
- Equipment Improvement & Production Quality: Lead equipment modifications, performance upgrades, program optimization, cycle-time improvements, and error-proofing projects. Resolve equipment-related welding quality, dimensional accuracy, and production stability issues to support stable mass production.
- Safety, CE & Special Equipment Compliance: Take primary responsibility for BIW equipment safety and ensure compliance with Turkish OHS (İSG) regulations, CE Machinery Directive, and functional safety standards. Manage safety-related equipment and inspections, including pressure vessels, safety valves, pressure gauges, safety light curtains, STO safety circuits, laser protection, and high-voltage electrical inspections, ensuring readiness for EU/Turkish official inspections and audits.
- Technical Documentation & Standardization: Establish and maintain equipment SOPs, maintenance manuals, electrical drawings, program versions, failure case libraries, and other technical documentation. Standardize maintenance practices and knowledge across Chinese, foreign, and local teams.
- Team & Shift Management: Take full responsibility for BIW maintenance team management, including manpower planning, shift scheduling, shift planning, and night-shift coordination and management.
- Training & Localization: Develop skill matrices, annual training plans, mentoring programs, and skill assessments. Lead technology transfer and capability development to build an independent and qualified Turkish maintenance team.
- Maintenance Safety Management: Take primary responsibility for maintenance safety, including LOTO energy isolation, high-risk work approvals, safety inspections, violation follow-up, accident investigation, and corrective actions, with the objective of maintaining zero maintenance-related safety incidents.
- Spare Parts, Tools & Budget Management: Manage spare-parts safety stock, annual spare-parts budgets, consumables, obsolete parts, local procurement, maintenance tools, precision instruments, calibration equipment, and special tooling. Control overall maintenance costs.
- Supplier & Contractor Management: Manage technical relationships with robot manufacturers, welding equipment suppliers, automation integrators, and local maintenance contractors. Coordinate warranty claims, after-sales technical support, contractor supervision, acceptance, and issue resolution.
- Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting: Represent the BIW maintenance function in production, quality, equipment, and safety meetings. Prepare equipment performance summaries, downtime analyses, KPI reports, improvement results, and risk alerts for management.
- Maintenance Systems & Process Standardization: Establish and implement CMMS work-order management, shift handover, failure classification/reporting, and equipment change-management systems, creating standardized and replicable maintenance practices for the Turkey factory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in welding electrical maintenance/debugging, with at least 2 years of team management experience. Familiarity with automated welding production lines is required; overseas project experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Siemens PLCs, servo welding guns, KUKA robots, fixtures, safety circuits, and overall equipment maintenance and periodic management.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, mechanical principles, and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of the CE Machinery Directive (CE-MD) and EN 60204-1 electrical safety standards is preferred.
- Working proficiency in English and Chinese, with the ability to independently lead meetings with foreign personnel and communicate with foreign management and local teams. Turkish language skills are a plus.
- Experience in overseas factory setup, team building, and localization management is preferred.
- Possession of a low-voltage electrician certificate and familiarity with high-risk workshop operations management.
