EPG is partnering with a well-funded, fast-growing engineering company to hire a Controls / Firmware Engineer. The company has a strong track record in high-voltage power and energy-storage technology and is building a new high-voltage product line from a clean sheet. In this role, you will own the embedded controls and firmware that tie the battery, converter, and system together and make it run and fail-safe.
Responsibilities
- Own the control architecture tying the BMS, power converter, and system power management together.
- Write charge/discharge algorithms and mode transitions (grid-tied, UPS, islanded).
- Build fault detection, protection, and graceful-degradation logic.
- Implement system communications (Modbus, CANbus, PMBus).
- Own hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of embedded controls or firmware for power systems.
- Real-time control of power converters or BMS.
- Embedded C/C++ with CANbus and/or Modbus.
- Onsite in the Pacific Northwest. Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship (US Persons only, export-control requirement).
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial power or management protocols (PMBus, SNMP).
- Automotive or industrial controls adaptable to stationary systems.
- Functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
