EPG is currently seeking a Controls / Firmware Engineer for one of our partners that is an established high-voltage battery and power-electronics company bringing technology proven in demanding, high-reliability applications to a new backup-power product for AI data centers. In this position, you will own the embedded controls and firmware that tie the battery, converter, and rack together and make the system run and fail-safe.
Responsibilities
- Own the control architecture tying BMS, power converter, and rack power management together.
- Write charge/discharge algorithms and mode transitions (grid-tied, UPS, islanded).
- Build fault detection, protection, and graceful-degradation logic.
- Implement communications to datacenter IT (Modbus, CANbus, PMBus).
- Own hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of embedded controls or firmware for power systems.
- Real-time control of power converters or BMS.
- Embedded C/C++ with CANbus and/or Modbus.
- This role is onsite in the Pacific Northwest. Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship (US Persons only, export-control requirement).
Preferred Qualifications
- Datacenter power/IT protocols (PMBus, Redfish, SNMP).
- Aerospace or automotive controls adaptable to stationary systems.
- Functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
