What To Expect
Tesla’s mission is to build a world of amazing abundance, powered by sustainable energy. Our Residential Energy business delivers innovative solar, storage, and charging products to homes — and APAC is where many of those products meet the world’s most advanced distributed-energy markets.
As a Product Manager on the APAC Residential team, you will own defined workstreams inside product launches, market enablement, and partner/VPP integrations. You will work across Powerwall hardware, software and firmware, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), Tesla Electric, and home charging, collaborating with internal teams (firmware, software, hardware, sales, service) and external parties (certified installers, VPP partners, distribution network operators). You’ll work independently day-to-day and be coached by senior team members on prioritisation and complex decisions.
In this role you will get the inputs: partner with AEMO, DNSPs, standards bodies, and internal firmware/software teams to ensure our products meet market and grid requirements; model the value: ensure every available value stream — backup, self-consumption, time-of-use, VPP revenue, FCAS — is accurately represented in product and proposal tooling; and communicate the value: ensure Partners, sales teams, and homeowners can see and capture that value in a way that drives regional growth.
What You'll Do
Own workstreams inside product launches, market enablement, and VPP/partner integrations across APAC — and drive them to closure Identify underlying customer, Partner, and grid-operator problems and translate them into detailed product and engineering requirements Serve our core users: Partners and installers and their sales teams, VPP/retail partners, network operators, and the homeowners who rely on our products Collaborate across internal teams (firmware, software, hardware, sales, service) and external parties (certified installers, VPP partners, DNSPs, regulators) Contribute to APAC product certification and market-entry work — grid-connection standards, CSIP-AUS dynamic operating envelopes, country-specific compliance Track product and feature success metrics, run pilots, and analyse results to improve commissioning rates, fleet reliability, and VPP participation Drive commercialisation of features through partner training content, field feedback, and collaboration with engineering teams
What You'll Bring
3-5 years of product management experience, ideally on hardware-plus-software products; energy, solar, or utility experience a strong plus Solid product specs and electrical-concepts knowledge (or demonstrated ability to build it fast) across Powerwall / solar / VPP products — can answer certified-installer or partner questions without a script Familiarity with distributed energy product economics: solar, battery storage, rate plans and time-of-use savings, VPP revenue, and ancillary services (e.g. FCAS) Exposure to energy markets or grid-connection regimes — AEMO, DNSPs, CSIP-AUS, AS/NZS 4777 — or a demonstrated appetite to develop that expertise quickly with coaching Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience Proven ability to own a moderate-complexity workstream: prioritise by impact, negotiate one defined package end-to-end, and escalate when the playbook doesn’t fit Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams, certified installers, VPP partners, and network operators Passionate about accelerating the transition to sustainable energy
