Tesla is leveraging its breakthrough firmware, electronics, test, and manufacturing capability to develop and deploy grid connected storage at residential, industrial, and utility levels.
The Residential Ecosystem team is looking for an engineer who is passionate about hardware/firmware integration and validation to drive the world’s transition to a sustainable future. This team focuses on optimization of energy resources - battery, solar, electric vehicle, appliances - in order to reduce reliance on the grid and lower energy costs. We emphasize collaboration in our work and always encourage each other to have fun while we change the world together.
What You'll Do
Own the end-to-end hardware and firmware integration of Tesla's Residential Ecosystem of battery and solar energy productsDevelop and execute test plans to validate functions, features, and system performanceLead and own system level firmware validation, firmware regression, and firmware releasesWork closely with cross-functional teams to ensure functional, performance, safety, and compliance requirements are successfully achievedDrive continuous improvement in design and performance by providing direct and accurate feedback to design ownersDevelop and maintain interface control documentationConduct failure analysis to understand root cause and drive resolution for hardware and firmware failures originating in testing and from the fieldDevelop and maintain automated firmware tests in PythonHands-on with system bring up and prototyping
What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience4+ years of experience in hardware and firmware integration and validationStrong electrical engineering fundamentalsExperience with Python, C, C++, Go, or equivalent experienceHands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact in a complex productProficiency with basic EE tools (scopes, power analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, CAN tools)Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex hardware/software systemsEffective communicator and excellent attention to detailPreferred: Experience with stationary energy storage systems, solar inverters, electric vehicles, or home energy management systems

Expected Compensation
$140,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
