Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day production activities and supervising hourly production team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This position coordinates staffing, production schedules, equipment utilization, quality requirements, and workflow to achieve established safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and operational performance goals.
The Production Supervisor provides direct leadership, coaching, training, and performance management to Technical Operators and other assigned production personnel. This role works closely with Production leadership, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Human Resources, and other support functions to resolve operational issues, improve processes, and maintain a positive, respectful, and high-performing work environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, production, delivery, and operational objectives are achieved.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, production sequences, and resource allocation based on production requirements.
- Review and analyze production schedules, work orders, reports, charts, and other operational data to determine production requirements and evaluate performance.
- Monitor production performance and key performance indicators (KPIs), identify performance gaps, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor manufacturing processes, materials, products, and equipment to identify defects, abnormalities, equipment concerns, or other conditions that may affect production.
- Ensure production activities comply with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, quality requirements, production standards, and applicable safety requirements.
- Monitor quality issues, support root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other appropriate departments.
- Observe equipment operation, gauges, controls, and other process indicators to ensure production processes are operating within established standards.
- Coordinate with other supervisors, shifts, and departments to maintain production continuity and effective shift-to-shift communication.
- Interpret and communicate production specifications, work instructions, job orders, procedures, and other operational requirements.
- Conduct required Layered Process Audits (LPAs) thoroughly and within established timelines and ensure identified gaps are appropriately addressed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, productivity, equipment effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, operational, and other required records and documentation.
- Participate in shift handoffs, production meetings, safety meetings, and other operational meetings as required.
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

- Perform other duties as assigned
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop Technical Operators, Senior Technical Operators, and other assigned production team members.
- Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, performance, and workplace conduct.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, recognition, and development opportunities to support employee performance and professional growth.
- Manage employee performance, including performance evaluations, performance improvement, and corrective action, in partnership with Human Resources and Production leadership as appropriate.
- Support the hiring, onboarding, training, retention, and development of assigned team members.
- Ensure new and developing team members receive appropriate training and qualification, including assignment to experienced team members when additional hands-on training is required.
- Identify individual and team training needs and coordinate appropriate training and development activities.
- Address employee questions, concerns, complaints, conflicts, and workplace issues promptly and appropriately, escalating matters when necessary.
- Interpret and consistently apply Company policies, procedures, work rules, and performance standards.
- Communicate production priorities, department goals, organizational updates, and performance expectations clearly and consistently to team members.
- Promote a positive, respectful, inclusive, and high-performing work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Support employee retention and succession planning by identifying development opportunities and employees with potential for expanded responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3–6+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, complex mechanical assembly, manufacturing equipment, tooling, or a related industrial environment.
- 1–3+ years of leadership, team lead, supervisory, or other relevant people-leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production operations, quality control, and safety requirements.
- Experience interpreting production schedules, work instructions, operating procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree, vocational certificate, technical certification, or other post-secondary education in manufacturing, engineering technology, operations, business, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory experience within a high-volume or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with automated manufacturing equipment, PLC-controlled equipment, tooling, or complex manufacturing assembly equipment.
- Working knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost considerations, and methods for maximizing manufacturing efficiency.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, root cause analysis, corrective actions, Lean manufacturing, or similar manufacturing improvement practices.
- Experience within automotive, battery, advanced manufacturing, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
- Regularly required to work on the production floor and interact with employees, manufacturing equipment, and production processes.
- May be exposed to noise, moving mechanical equipment, manufacturing materials, temperature variations, and other conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable safety requirements.
- Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods while monitoring production activities and supporting team members throughout assigned work areas.
- May require bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and other physical activities necessary to access and oversee production areas.
- Must be able to work assigned shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by business and production needs.
