Job Summary:
The EHS Operations Manager will help implement environmental, health and safety programs and guidelines within a Production area. The EHS Manager plays a key role in the day-to-day operations in the production process, driving safety on the production floor. This individual will manage the 24x7 EHS team members and work directly with the Production leaders and Safety Champions and will be responsible for mitigating risk and mentoring, coaching, and teaching EHS requirements and safe practices.
Essential Duties
- Champion a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across PECNA by coaching and influencing production safety teams to drive a high‑performance safety culture
- Assess and evaluate process and day-to-day activities on the production floor and guide production safety teams in safe practices and adoption of best practices
- Ability to quickly develop solutions to problems; also forward thinking and develops proactive solutions
- Manage 24x7 team who responds to incidents (injuries, near misses, property damages, etc), implements containment actions, and initiate and drive incident investigation purposes
- Review, participate and coach teams in effective investigations. Ensure appropriate root cause analysis has been conducted and corrective actions have been identified and
- Experience with EHS programs, regulations and their application within the production environment
- Revise EHS programs, policies, workplace instructions, guidance documents, and training as needed
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance. This is done in partnership other EHS members and stakeholders such as the PECNA Training Institute.
- Implement PECNA Safety Champion program through partnership with production and other stakeholders in order to proactively address or mitigate issues
- Develop and maintain EHS emergency response and recovery plans and participate in emergency drills and training exercises in coordination with the PECNA Health Clinic and PECNA Emergency Response teams.
- Drive continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing tools. Ability to lead site-wide strategic projects driving continuous improvement.
- Manages team of 10-12 people, across all shifts
- Provide leadership and mentoring to EHS staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform any other duties assigned by EHS leaders
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Basic: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Science or other relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university
- Preferred: Advanced degree in EHS or related field
Essential Qualifications
- 7+ years in a senior, supervisory, or managerial role
- 5+ years of progressive manufacturing/operations experience and direct people management experience in a high pace/high volume manufacturing environment
- Experience mentoring, coaching, supporting, and collaborating with production safety team members
- Self-starter, with general instructions
- Work effectively and efficiently in a cross-discipline environment as well as independently
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment
- Results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against production deadlines and goals
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, and EPA
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma and 6S principles
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
- Skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed

- Experience with Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles
