What To Expect
Tesla is building the largest electric vehicle charging network in Australia and New Zealand, and we need an EHS professional who wants to be at the centre of it. This role owns the safety and environmental programme for our Charging organisation across ANZ, covering Supercharging, Destination Charging, future charging products, and Amenities from initial design through construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. You will work alongside engineers, project managers, and contractors in the field - shaping how charging infrastructure is built and operated safely, while keeping pace with one of the fastest-moving product roadmaps in the energy sector
What You'll Do
Partner with charging project teams to integrate EHS requirements across the full construction lifecycle, from site design and permitting through commissioning and handoverManage contractor safety performance across multiple concurrent construction sites, including pre-qualification, onboarding, site audits, and corrective action follow-throughConduct risk assessments and safety reviews for new charging products, equipment installations, and site layouts as the product roadmap evolves Develop and maintain EHS procedures and safe work methods specific to charging infrastructure, including high-voltage electrical systems, civil works, and public-facing installations Collaborate with design and engineering teams to embed safety-by-design principles into new Supercharger, Destination Charging, future charging products, and Amenities projectsLead event learning reviews, identify contributing factors and system improvements, and communicate learnings across the charging organisationMonitor and maintain compliance with Australian and New Zealand EHS regulatory requirements, including WHS legislation, electrical safety codes, and environmental obligationsAnalyse EHS data and field observations to identify trends, prioritise risk reduction efforts, and report performance to regional leadership
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS roles supporting construction, infrastructure, or field-based operationsDemonstrated experience managing contractor safety across multiple concurrent work sitesWorking knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and relevant electrical safety standardsExperience conducting risk assessments, safety reviews, and event learning reviews Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to influence site teams, project managers, and senior leadershipWillingness to travel regularly across Australia and New Zealand, up to 40%Current Australian driver's licence
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related disciplineExperience in energy infrastructure, electrical installations, or high-voltage environmentsFamiliarity with construction phases from design through commissioning
