Summary:
As an ESS Cell Development Engineer, you will support the research, development, testing, and validation of lithium-ion battery cells for Energy Storage System (ESS) applications. This role partners with cross-functional teams to evaluate battery performance, support prototype development, analyze technical data, and contribute to continuous product and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development and validation of lithium-ion battery cells for ESS applications.
- Analyze battery cell specifications and engineering data to support product quality, performance, and reliability objectives.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving battery cell specifications and technical documentation.
- Support prototype builds, testing activities, and performance evaluations.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret laboratory and production test data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with research and development projects, including prototype evaluation and product validation.
- Coordinate testing activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project objectives.
- Investigate quality concerns and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, manufacturing processes, and battery performance.
- Maintain compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and fire protection requirements.
- Complete daily documentation and maintain accurate engineering records.
- Follow established work instructions and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology, battery materials, electrochemistry, or analytical instrumentation is preferred.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of engineering experience, including internship or co-op experience, in battery development, product development, research and development, manufacturing, or a related engineering environment.
- Experience supporting lithium-ion battery products or ESS technologies is preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology and electrochemical principles.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical data and engineering documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Project coordination and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Korean) proficiency is preferred.
