What To Expect
This is an opportunity to work in the cell qualification and R&D group, which is responsible for testing and qualifying Tesla’s next-generation Li-ion battery cells and developing new cell test methods. The Lab Maintenance Technician will join the Gigafactory Nevada Cell Characterization Lab and lead day-to-day lab maintenance operations.
What You'll Do
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on various electrical and mechanical equipment and tools following established procedures and user manualsConduct hands-on electrical testing and data collectionUtilize PC-based programs to document maintenance schedules and tasks performedTroubleshoot and resolve test equipment issues to ensure optimal uptime and accuracyCollect portable test equipment for calibration and update calibration recordsLead and support equipment installation, test fixture and cabinet assembly, and validationSupport operational tasks to maintain a world-class lab environment including organizing lab benches and stock rooms, refilling fluids for chillers and humidity chambers, and tracking spare parts and consumable hardware for reordering
What You'll Bring
Knowledge in electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentalsExperience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment such as multimeters, battery cyclers, temperature chambers, water circulation chillers, vacuum systems, and power toolsAbility to read and interpret complex schematics, mechanical drawings, vacuum diagrams, flow charts, OEM manuals, instructions, and tool guidesAbility to lift up to 40 lbs. as requiredHigh attention to detail and the ability to execute test procedures with a high level of accuracyProficient in Windows and MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong communication and team skills with internal customer orientation
