What To Expect
You will serve as the primary field expert performing due-diligence assessments on commercial properties for future Tesla Facilities. Your core work centers on on-site MEP surveys, detailing reporting, and Property Condition Assessments. You will also troubleshoot active, fully operational Tesla facilities and collaborate daily with Architects of Record, Engineers of Record, Real Estate, Design, Construction and Facilities managers for the full Infrastructure organization.
What You'll Do
Perform comprehensive on-site surveys and evaluations of MEP systems including but not limited to, evaluating the health of existing HVAC systems, identifying electrical power distributions, and evaluating equipment conditionsIdentify deficiencies, code compliance gaps, maintenance issues, and capital needs, then translate findings into clear field reportsTroubleshoot MEP problems at existing and open sitesMaintain thorough field documentation, photographs, and supporting records Inspect and test mechanical and electrical building infrastructure equipmentUnderstand operating procedures for mechanical facilities equipment, including HVAC systems, hydronics systems, pumps, heat exchangers, chillers, boilers and dehumidifiersSupport cross functional teams to develop commissioning, startup, and operations plans for mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, air handling system, dehumidifier systems, etc.) Perform and/or conduct factory acceptance inspections, site inspections, pre-functional checks and functional performance testing to verify the quality of mechanical equipment installation, system operation against design specifications and adherence to project standards
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience2-5 years of field experience with commercial MEP systems, including field inspection, facilities support, and construction observationsHigh degree of ownership and initiative – taking responsibility for deliverables and driving projects forward with minimal supervisionOperations experience in commercial, retail, and industrial HVAC systems Deep understanding of power distribution and electrical building systemsSystem commissioning and startup experience is must Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to understand complex problems, preferably experience in writing professional technical reports Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt quickly to changing project demands Travel up to 75% with a valid driver’s license
