What To Expect
Tesla is seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager for our EHS Design & Deploy team. You will drive cross-functional EHS programs across the full lifecycle of manufacturing development — from sourcing through design, build, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and production ramp. Partnering with manufacturing engineering, controls, factory engineering, facilities, and operations teams, you will ensure EHS milestones and deliverables are embedded at every phase across new vehicle, energy, solar, Tera, and AI manufacturing programs.
As the single point of accountability for EHS program delivery, you will own scope, schedule, and risk across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring all EHS deliverables — including chemical hazard assessments, risk assessments, safety buyoffs, hazard reviews, emission permitting, and various other SME assessments — are completed on time at each milestone.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end EHS program execution across Tesla's manufacturing equipment development process — from initial equipment definition through production — tracking Subject Matter Experts (SME) deliverables throughout program deliverables and timelinesDefine and maintain EHS program roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics aligned to the overall manufacturing project timeline; ensure EHS requirements are integrated into vendor kickoff workshops, RFQ packages, and design review approvals throughout concept, preliminary, detail, and final design stages Drive EHS requirements and solutions with cross-functional stakeholders — including manufacturing engineering, controls, factory engineering, facilities, quality, and operations — coordinating and driving hazard and operability studies, chemical process risk reviews, and environmental impact assessments, etc. Own the EHS buyoff lifecycle — equipment handover procedures, documentation, commissioning coordination for smooth handoverTrack program status, surface risks early, and drive mitigations across all project phases; coordinate with vendors, contractors, and cross functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental standards (OSHA, NFPA, ISO, ANSI) Generate clear, concise program status reports and executive summaries for all levels of management — communicating EHS progress, blockers, risks, and opportunities Build processes and tools to scale EHS program tracking across Tesla's global factory network
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in technical program or engineering project management, including delivery large capital projects in manufacturing or industrial environments Demonstrated experience managing EHS deliverables within a structured milestone or phase-gate framework across the full equipment lifecycle — sourcing, design, build, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and production ramp Strong knowledge of industry safety standards (ISO, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA) and hands-on experience with risk assessments, hazard identification and operability reviews, emission permitting, and safety buyoff processes Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional and global teams — including vendors, contractors, regulators, and internal engineering stakeholders — through complex, multi-milestone programs Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project) and experience developing processes and responsibility frameworks tailored to engineering workflows PMP or equivalent certification preferred; familiarity with AI workflows for execution optimization is a plus
